Show January Page 6 flSUSU 16 1976 executive council have same opinions The ASUSU executive council working well together and for they’re all “pulling-togethe- r Utah State” Doug Brady ASUSU executive said “The council has quite a cross section of people all with different interests but we all work together well” Brady said “I feel very good about it” The studentbody officers represent a cross culture of people Brady said “I classify myself as a cowboy I belong to a fraternity I’m an and I’m LDS There are a lot of different interests represented I like to rodeo I hear Nolan Johnson really likes to ski and Carlos Pinto travels alot Randy Funk spent time in Washington DC working with Congressman Gunn McKay There are differences in outside interests yet we all work is vice-preside- nt out-of-stat- er together” Brady said he didn’t feel there had been any major conflicts Within the council this year “We have had no conflicts that would leave any hard feelings” he said “Probably the strongest disagreement would be over a or bill someone we all may feel and presented about” differently resolution “I think all the officers are their developing fields veryfc-well- ” own special he said Brady a junior studying ‘prelaw was raised in Henderson Nevada He was involved with freshmen council Homecoming Robins Awards and Sigma Nu fraternity before being elected to office Brady said at election time last spring it was an unusual situation ftfr Asa because all the officers were single He will change that standing when he is married this February Brady said he enjoys rodeo but hasn’t had much time for it recently “I find some time now during the summer or over breaks” he said “I like bull riding and bareback riding events” The office of the vice president has dealt with some things they haven’t in previous years Brady said He said these areas helped students in their lives at the university “One thing which has been a big help is the polling service conducted through this office” Brady said Lois Martensen and JoEllen Bayer along with several students poll a cross section of students on different issues to gain student input Brady said this helps the various officers “The officers can’t individually meet with each student to discuss their needs to these polls help them know student opinions on subjects” he said “Every officer has questions about his office and what students want and expect” The polls are conducted with a representative cross section of students and are valid polls meeting government standards Brady said “I think this is the important thing about these polls” he said “They are legitimate and could be used in court as evidence if necessary” “I would say we do get a lot students” Another area handled by Brady’s office is the student health center Until this year the center was funded by the state but Wights support comes solely from the students “The poll tells me of the student’s interest in maintaining the center” Brady said “We’ve found that 68 per cent of the students are in favor of a $250 raise in student fees to go to the health center” he said’ “This ()OUG BRADY ASUSU Executive would mean a total of five dollars view of the year's progress per student each quarter” Brady said some students come in with legal problems and cannot afford an attorney He said his office provides a referral service with students to downtown attorneys who will offer legal aid to help the student “This service helps students to know their rights to know if they have a case or not and what they can do about it” he said “We set up a rate with the attorney to meet with students for about $5 for five minutes to determine if the student has a case” Vice-Preside- shares his nt Naiurai Leather Crex 30 lx Banjos For Sale ' Or Rent HSSIC of input from students and these polls help tremendously” Brady said “Students do come up and talk to us and we (the officers) Engel hardt try to go out to housing either on or off campus and talk with the 53! 752-925- Itrtk — r?
