Show STUDENT AFFAIRS A C U 0— N G U 21 The A C U and the National Guards met on Walker's Field in Salt Lake City October 17th the Guards winning the game by a score but of 21 to 0 The game was very it brought our the fact that the A C has some good football material which needs just a little s team The working over to make it a Guards made practically all of their gains by end runs as they could do hardly anything with the A Cs strong line The farmer boys were very slow in waking up letting the Guards have everything their own way in the first half In the second half they played much better ball holding the professionals to one touch-dow- n against three in the first The Guards kicked off to the Farmers The boys made several good gains through the line but were soon held for downs and compelled to kick The Guards by a series o end runs worked the ball down the field for the first touch-dow- n Groesbeck missed goal At the next kick-of- f the Guards again started their end runs running around the students so rapidly that the latter hardly knew where they were until their opponents had made another touch-dow- n Groesbeck this time kicked goal The third touch-dow- n was made in even a shorter time than was the second The Farmers began to realize that they were losing the game so braced up and showed the professionals that they did know how to play football if someone would just wake them up The local boys held the Guards just about as often as the latter got the ball compelling them to kick repeatedly The Aggies by a series of tackle-bac- k plays pushed the ball up the field and were on the fair road for a touch-dow- n when the referee’s whistle signaled for the close of the half The second half was entirely in the farmer But luck was against them and boys’ favor one-side- d first-clas- Time and time they were unable to score again they held the professionals compelling them to kick but as soon as A C got the ball they would push it down the field within a few yards of a touch-dow- n only to lose it In this half the Guards again on a fumble were held to one touch-dow- n The final score was 21 to 0 in favor of tne Guards X G U— 21 A C U— 0 L E Christy Taylor Findlay Clark-StantL T Gardner Stanton-Smit- h L G Kirk Wort hen C Mudsen Itichards It G Mortison on Egbert Craw ford Jardine W y Chatlin I la vis Bassett Q II L II R II Adams Allred Xebeker-Kell- R T R E F Smith-Christ- y Groesbeck Tomlinson 11 A C U 5—A C C 24 One of the prettiest foot-ba- ll games of the season was played on the II Y Campus Monday October 27 by the A C of Utah and the A C of Colorado Utah lost the game by a score of 0 to 24 The large score the visitors ran up on the local boys however does not give a correct idea of the game as ukes were reand a third was sponsible for two touch-down- s 11 denied by Umpire Ilill but Captain Xeboker Utah was strong on the waived the decision defensive and would have been equally strong g on the offensive had she not persisted in the ball As long as they could hold the ball our boys were sure of making the required distance Utah’s backs could plunge through the opponent’s line at will for good gains while the visitors nearly always lost ground on line bucks Utah kicked to Colorado Southcottl£ and fum-blin- NBBatsssEasssiaaia |
