Show Paa CARBON COLLEGE GOLDEN EAGLE Four Tupsdiy February 21 1H1 Personalities of the Month News of Our Alumni Karleen Baile Takes Vows who is graduate of Carbon College last year students three one of the is top in Industrial Psychology majoring from the department of psychology at the University of Utah has been selected to receive a special seminar training course for the remainder of the year according to word received at Carbon College Based on his performance during the Fall quarter Terry will be allowed to preliminary classes and begin a more advanced instruction course of Terry who spent the holiday season with his parents Mr and Mrs Barney DeVietti in Price attributes much of ihs success to the necessary groundwork he secured at Carbon College during the past two years "The larger school provides quite a transition but I feel that Carbon College gave me the necessary groundwork to bridge the gap At Carbon I was one of four hundred students Here I am one of the thousands who make itimpossible for an Instructor to provide individual help” Terry states While at Carbon he was elected to membership in Phi Theta Kappa national junior college scholastic fraternity He was awarded a scholarship to the University of tUah DR THOMAS CARTER BITHEL son of Mr and Mrs Harold Bithel of Price was graduated from Carbon College as an honor student in 1950 He attended the University of Utah Medical School graduating with top honors in 1955 Later he interned and studied at National Institute of Health at Bethesda Maryland He accepted a Fellowship to Oxford University England where he is currently studying hemology He plans to return in July to attend the University of Utah where he will participate in research work with Dr Max Winthrope Dr Bithel holds membership in Phi Beta Kappa honorary scholastic fraternity and AOA honorary medical fraternity DAVID MILES son of Mrs Nettie Miles Price was graduated from Caron College in 1952 After receiving his BS degree from the BYU He accepted a Fellowship to the Iowa State College at Ames Iowa and was graduated with a Ph D degree in Chemistry He was employed with the Southern Chemical Company at Corpus Christie Texas but resigned this position to enter the teaching profession and to teach at the LDS Church College in Hawaii He served an LDS mission in North California Mission He is married to the former Mary Wilson of Juarez Mexico They have adopted seven children David began his school in the seventn grade Previous to this time he was confined to his home with a heart affliction DR KENNETH A GUYMON son of Mrs Crystal Guymon of Price was graduated from the University of Utah School in Medicine He attended Carbon College Dr Guymon interned at the Holy Cross Hospital and specialized in Internal medicine at the LDS Hospital He is a member of the medical staff He resides in Salt Lake City JOHN MILES son of Mrs Nettie Miles of Price was graduated from Carbon College in 1952 He served in the armed service spendfor the ing 18 months of his time at Tokyo He filled a mission BYU with a from the was John in graduated Church LDS Norway BA degree in accounting He completed one year of work at the University of Utah John is presently employed as a cost accountant for General Motors in Salt Lake He is married to the former Theone Kavcrene of Logan They have four children They make a home in Bountiful Utah DAVID FAUSETT son of George Fausett of Price was graduated from Carbon College in 1950 lie served in the US Air Force attended the Columbia University in New York He is currently employed at the American Airline New York City LOUISE BRYNER MOFFITT daughter of Mr and Mrs Rulon Bryncr Price was graduated from Carbon College in 195G She received her BS Degree from BYU in physical education in 1958 Louise is an instnictor in Physical education safety work and driver training at Burley High School at Burley Idaho She is a memlter of the National Commission on Safety Education and recently attended a convention for this commission at Washington DC Only two class room instructors serve on this council in the US Term of office is for two years She will be invited to attend the convention each year while she is a member of the council TERRY DoVIETTI Mrs Charles Michael Ellis was honored at a shower and open house Friday February 3 at the Columbia LDS Ward Chapel Mrs Ellis is the former Karleen Balle daughter of Mr and Mrs H R Balle Sr of Columbia Mr Ellis is the son of Mr- -
