move others do not A cross section survey revealed the following views : JAMES SANDIFER The affiliation of Carbon College with the University of Utah would be a great step forward for the college Being a smaller institution Carbon would certainly find It advantageous to be associated with a larger college such as the University of Utah Its progress both scholastically and socwould be noticeable ially Throughout the state the reputation of the college would grow Increased enrollment and larger graduating classes from Carbon would certainly play a part in building prestige with the other state institutions This affiliation of Carbon with the University of Utah would add to the growth and progress which the college is row making RICHARD SNOW I think that if Carbon College is made a branch of the University of Utah this would be a great Carbon College would parallel the University curriculum All duplication of classes that may exist at the present would cease "D" advantage to the students who attend Carbon More attention would be focused on Carbon College thus resulting in a larger enrollment yearly The students of Carbon College credit being transfcrrable may cause a student to get a "D" (which he may well deserve) rathbeer than a "gift" cause of the teacher's feeling for him An item of importance (although not to me) would be the athletic department The University would no doubt use Carbon (Continued on Page Four) would have no trouble in transferring credits to the University of Utah Teachers would have a better s” understanding of various problems and would learn to cooperate more in understanding student's problems and needs We would also have to have from the peomore of the community in particple in the interests of Carbon ipating Utah Symphony Music Delights Listeners College TIIAD NELSON My reasons for not wanting Carbon College to become a part of the Utah University are as follows: “D" credit would be trans- ferable Price Civic Auditorium scene January 26 of a "pops" concert presented allowing “D" grades to be used for college graduation when they were earned at Carbon College This no doubt would cause students to be more lax in their study habits The possibility also exists that the excellent instructors that Carbon may possess or acquire would very likely be transferred institution By to the four-yethe same reasoning the poor teachers from the University could be sent to Carbon My reason for uniting Carbon College with the Utah University are as follows: The curriculum at ar Science Series Start Utah University Physics Applications for appointments to the University of Utah to study for a PhD degree in physics are now being sought The work in this program has two principal aspects: course work and thesis
