It is a fact that We we continue to have inflation and unemployment, excessive taxation and inordinate welfarism. It Is also a fact that notwithstanding the reforms he has proposed, and the excellent public servants whose aid he lias enlisted, we continue to have an intolerable crime rate, an apathetic court system, and a Supreme Court given in cer- tain matters to ideological abstraction. These domestic considera- tions, important as they are, pale into insignificance alongside the tendencies of the Administration in foreign policy. Applauding though we do the President's steadfastness in resisting the great pressures upon him to desert Southeast Asia, we note: His failure to respond to the rapid advance of the Soviet Union 1 . into the Mediterranean Basin, 2. Ills failure to warn against the implications of the current policies of the West Herman government, countermeasures clicalions of the current policies of the West German government, 3. His overtures to Red China, done in the absence of any public concessions by Red China to American and Western causes, 4. And above all, his failure to coll public attention to the deteriorated American military position in conventional and strategic arms, which deterioration in the absence of immediate and heroic countermeasures can lead to the loss of our deterrent capability, register our protests. We do not plan at the moment to encourage formal political opposition to President Nixon in the forthcoming primaries, but we propose to keep all Nixon Administration, have resolved to suspend our support Council of the Administration.
