Under Reuther's leadership, the United Auto Workers pushed through its executive committee sessions in 1962, with no opportunity for the rank and file to vote on them, resolutions which were actually an assault on the internal security of the United States. They included the following items: (1) Condemnation of Congressional efforts to stop die shipment of Communist propaganda into the United States; (2) a demand that aliens found to be ... versive organizations (3) Have the Internal Rev- enue Service remove tax exempt status from conser- vative organizations so as to dry up their sources of income. (4) Have the Federal Communications Commission harass radio stations carrying conservative programs by "investigations." Speaks In Provo Memorandum to RFK In 1961 Walter Reuther wrote his famous twenty-fou- r page memorandum to Attorney general Robert This memorandum was written after a Kennedy. directive was issued from Moscow stating that one of the major tasks of the Communists would be the silencing of all effective opposition to Communism in the United States. In December of that year Reuther's memorandum to Attorney General Robert Kennedy was submitted and it contained the following: (1) The Secretary of Defense should issue orders prohibiting military leaders from speaking or writing against Communism.
