O James ames who is conducting the classes in Physics comes to us from Johns Hopkins Hopkins Hopkins Hop Hop- kins University where he was graduated graduated grad and also has done post-graduate post work Mr James was was' born 23 years ago near Norfolk Virginia He attended attend attend- ed the public schools until he was seventeen years rears old and then spent two years at a private school Church Churchland land Academy y seven miles from his home With this preparation he entered Hopkins Hopkins Hopkins Hop Hop- kins and by attending the summer school of the University of Vermont in 93 he was able to take out his B. B A. A degree in the mathematical physical group in June 95 In the same month he was appointed University scholar and andin andin andin in October went back for post-graduate post work leading to the the- degree of Ph D D. offering Mathematics as a major and nd I. I i Physics and Celestial Mechanics as minors In In the fall of 95 he was elected a 11 a member of the Phi Beta Kappa society society society so so- and in June 96 he was appointed a honorary Hopkins scholar but resigned this in September to enter upon his work here We need say nothing concerning Mr J James ames si since ce he has come to us A great many of the students are in his classes and have formed their own own opinions concerning concerning concerning con con- him Our first first- impression of him was that he was thoroughly in- in ted with his subjects subjects almost too thoroughly for our slow minds minds and and this impression has steadily grown upon us as t time me has passed I |
