Show A A CHANGE CH has been made lately by bythe bythe the registrar in the method of keeping keeping keep keep- i ing ng the record of credits credi ts in the Un University University i ver- ver sity and the one now no adopted is certainly certainly certainly unique The awkward old plan of using books alone has been dropped and the card system substituted For some time Mr Coray has been carefully considering this matter he has examined examined examined exam exam- ined the cards used in other institutions and he thinks now that he has a system that for our purpose is almost perfect r t Every enrolled student has his pis name placed on a card by itself and there as a's as soon as he completes a subject his A credit is set down that of preparatory ry work on one side and of college work on the other The card is of heavy paste pasteboard pasteboard pasteboard board about eight by ten inches in size At the top is placed the students student's name age and address and the school from which he has come also his fathers father's or guardians guardian's name and address Space is given for each years year's work and the percents percents percents per- per cents received and there is one corner set apart for comments conditions etc Above this the years that the student has attended are given with stars stamped in colored ink opposite Each year has a different color and at the side of each study is placed a star corresponding corresponding corresponding cor cor- responding to that of the year in which it was completed By this it can be told immediately just when a student h has s done any part of his work The main advantages of the card over the book system is in having all of each students student's credit arranged in a most compact form and convenient f for r rapid examination The cards are placed in alphabetical order with one end of every tenth raised and lettered and only a moment is required to turn to any name Of course course books books are used so that the cards may be verified if necessary but these do not have to be handled com com- manly When a person leaves school his card can be laid away in a safe place and he will cause no more inconvenience until he appears again while with the books h his is sheet would appear for years perhaps until the book was filled up and laid aside Mr Coray has shown a progressive spirit in this as well as in the arrangement arrangement arrange arrange- ment of the library and his department is coming to be one of the best bes managed of the institution t |
