Spring Semester in Germany In this full-semester program, up to 25 quarter-hours of credit can be earned. Although primarily intended for students of German language, literature, history and culture, a variety of other courses in social, physical and biological sciences are available. avail-able. All courses are taught in German by Christian-Albrechts University faculty. Satisfactory completion of two years of college col-lege German, or its equivalent, is a prerequisite. Summer School in Europe This eight-week study program includes: visits to many sources of Western culture in France, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, Germany, England, Belgium and the Netherlands; a two-week seminar in London, and three weeks in residence at the University Univer-sity of Louvain near Brussels. Graduate and undergraduate courses cours-es are offered in the Arts, History and Political Science. This is a cooperative program with four universities and colleges in Utah working together to provide the most stimulating learning experience ex-perience possible in Europe. Summer Language Institute in France and Spain This is an opportunity to study French or Spanish language, jl literature, history and culture, with visits to nearby places of historical and cultural interest. French students participate in a language institute at Pau conducted by faculties of the Universities Univer-sities of Bordeaux and Toulouse. Arrangements are made for the Spanish students to receive their language instruction in Spain while the French students are in Pau. During the six-week residence resi-dence portion of the program, there will be a variety of weekend excursions, including trips to the medieval town of Carcassonne, Biarritz, Gavarnie and Madrid. The program culminates with a travel-study experience, with major stops at Geneva, Rome, Paris and London. Study Program in Europe for Educators Here is a six-week program specifically designed for the teaching profession and graduate students in education. Courses are offered in History of Western Education, Education in Europe, Eu-rope, Comparative Higher Education and other subjects in the Cultural Foundations series. The itinerary is focused on locations of educational and cultural interest in the areas of Rome, Munich, Paris and London. Family Life Study Tour of Europe This is a six-week course of study and travel to selected places of interest in eight countries of Western Europe. It is planned as a survey of pre-school education and family relationships relation-ships in the context of economic planning, cultural influences and social change; and food supplies and consumer problems, food standards and practices as related to nutritional needs in terms of tradition, agricultural and social factors. Throughout I ho tour, lectures by home economists, educators, and heads of privale ami public agencies will be coordinated with special visits and field trips to institutions, centers, plants, schools and stores pertinent to the fields of study. Credit can be earned in courses dealing with Child and Family, and Food and Nutrition. Children's Literature Review in E.urope This three-week tour of Weslern Europe is planned for teachers teach-ers and specialists in the field of elementary education who may be interested in a comparative approach to the review and evaluation evalu-ation of children's literature. Itinerary will include visits to schools, libraries and other institutions concerned with publication, publica-tion, selection and use of children's literature. Credit may be earned in specially designated library science and education courses that are pertinent to this study tour. World Area Seminars The Pacific and Asia Students interested in the Pacific area, teachers of Social Studies and other participants not interested in study for credit will visit the Pacific Islands, Australia, New Zealand, Southeast Asia, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Japan, study their educational programs, history and culture, and examine their impact on contemporary con-temporary world diplomacy. Spring Quarter at San Miguel de Allende, Mexico A joint program for junior, senior and graduate art students from the University of Utah and Utah Slate University. Art majors from these two institutions, together with instructors, spend the spring quarter in this picturesque colonial town. Guest lecturer will discuss various aspects of Mexican anthropology, history and culture. Programs Available Through Cooperation With Other Institutions International Studies at the University of the Americas on their new campus in Puebla, Mexico. Canadian Studies at McGill University or the University of Montreal in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. African Seminar for Teachers. Priority is given to secondary school teachers, preferably in the social sciences, and to others with a special interest in Africa. .
