Show Socialette Club COUPLE SETS Sodalette Club held their meeting at the home of Mra. Paul Edmunds. Mrs. Duane Richens and Mrs. Pat Roberts were the WEDDING DATE Mrs. Hollis Hullinger gave a book review on some selected short stories. The club members voted on new officers for the eoming year. President, Mrs. Ferrell Crozier, vice president, Mrs. Phil secretary, Mrs. Claude Crozier, treasurer, Mrs. Curtis Dastrup; historian, Mrs. Duane Richens; program chairman, Mrs. Don Solmonson; hospitality chairman, Mrs. Terry Ruxlon and Parliamentarian, Mrs. Kelly Goodrich. Special guest for the evening was Mrs. Nelson Carter. A salad luncheon was served to club members and the guest. Womens clubs hold Spring convention The Federated Women's Clubs of the Uintah Basin District will hold their annual Spring convention on Wednesday, April 25, at the Dinaland Country Club. The receiving line will begin at 7 p.m. Mrs. Golden Robbins, President of the State Federation will be present. As part of the program this year tributes will be paid to the past presidents of the district federation. Also special honor will be paid to Mrs. John Gilbert Mother of the year, Mrs. Norma Denver Club woman of the year. Reservations are to be turned into Mrs. Lloyd Winward by monday the 23 of April. Announcement is made by Mr. and Mrs. Arnel L Barney of Mapleton, of the engagement of their daughter, Raina Joy Barney to Randy Goble, son of Mr. and Mrs. Keith Goble of Mapleton, The couple will be married May 11 in the Salt Lake Temple. A reception will also be held May 11 at the Memorial hall, 4 th North main in Spanish Fork. The bride to be graduated from Spanish Fork high and four years of Seminary. She also graduated from Snow College and Utah State University and four years of Institute. She belongs to Phi Kappa Phi. She taught at Duchesne high for 1 ' years. The prospective groom graduated from Springvillc high and four years of Seminary. lie attended BYU and went on an IJJS Mission to Ohio. He is presently employed by Empire West Construction Co., of Salt Lake. All friends and relatives are invited to attend the couple's reception. They plan to live in Springvillc. Mrs. Smith and Sammy will remain in Roosevelt for awhile. Mr. and Mrs. Michael McArthur, Vallejo, Calif., returned home Tuesday after spending two week visiting in Roosevelt with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. John McArthur and Mr. and Mrs. Reryl Gurr. Mix with equal parts and serve. lemons in p 54th anniversary for Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Gladys Stewart Dennis and Wallace H. reside on South Myton Bench, will celebrate their fifty fourth wedding anniversary April 19. They were married in 1919. They have four children, Howard, deceased; Dr. Daniel S. Roosevelt; Marjorie Beal Myton and Wallace Jr. (Tom) of Missouri Valley, Iowa. They have twenty two grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Doing things for the enjoyment of children, has been their pleasure. They have lived on their farm since 1922 and Mr. Dennis is presently employed by Basin Velernary Clinic. Mr. and Mrs. Dennis are members of the LDS Church. They have traveled to various parts of California, Iowa, and New York and places in between. This past year they spent five weeks on a trip to Alaska. Mrs. Dennis was bron at the St. Lewis Mine, located at Ft. Duchesne on what wascalled "The Strip" in 1899. Mr. Dennis moved to the Basin from Midway in 1897 and remembers that there were only three buildings when he first arrived. Wilkins Store, Markey's Barber Shop and George Wallace's Blacksmith shop. Myton was the focal point for the Basin at that time, and at one time sported two banks and two theaters as well as s couple of saloons. It also has the distinct honor of being the first town this side of Mr. Dennis Vernal to get power hook-up- , slated. who Who's Who Sewing club met at the home of Mra. Clyde Beullcr. The evening was spent working on a baby quilt and handwork. Fourteen members were present. The next meeting will be held May 4 at the home of Mrs. Marlin Johnson in Ioka. The Duchesne 500 Club met Saturday night at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Neil Moon. Prizes were won by Shirley McGhee and Marge and Allan Ashton. A dessert luncheon was served. The Neola community club held a very successful bake sale Saturday at the Swain's Store in Neola. Proceeds will go toward the Elementary school sidewalk. Report 500 Club meets ROOSEVELT Mrs. Veda County Hospital Who's Who club April FROM: Irene Cuch of Ft Duchesne was elected president of the Roosevelt business and Professional Women's Club Monday night. Other officers elected were Beverly Evans, Allamont, vice president; Loye Gardner, secretary and Peggy Virden, treasurer both of Ft. Duchesne. Msxine Natchees, Sue Norton and Violet Parriette were elected delegates to tale convention. Beverly Evans and Marion A. Behunin are alternates. Mrs. Cuch congratulated Mrs. Behunin on receiving the 1972 personalities of the award for her past West and Mid-Weachievements and outstanding service to the community and elate. Bonnie Fau-set- t, civic participation chairman presented Mrs. Behunin and Miss Virden a centerpiece. Other members serving as committee members were Anna von Kampen and Edith Olpin. Ellen Rawlings, chairman of the senior tea announced that Renee Chawl will have the honor of having the tea at her home May 14. Nona Rasmussen and Erma Stewart will serve on the committee with Mrs. Larry Abplanalp of the community school program was guest speaker. Mr. Abplanalp explained the Mott Foundation and said the school exist to serve all the people with programs and activities that interest them. It is the common meeting ground where living and learning join forces to make the community a better place to live. Mrs. Janice White, president of the Duchesne County Cowbells gave a report on the beef crisis. She noted that beef on hoof is not much higher than it was 20 years ago. Ronda Benson, Roosevelt and Rex L Rich, Vernal, formerly of Roosevelt plan a June wedding. JUNE WEDDING PLANNED BY PAIR Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Benson of Roosevelt, announce the forthcoming marriage of their daughter Rhonda, to Rex L. Rich, son of Mrs. Arbun Rich of Vernal. Ronda is an honor senior at Union high and will graduate with the class of '73; is active in drama and speech, in which she has received various honors. She attended Girls State in her junior year. Rex graduated from Union high with the class of 69; was active in wrestling and FFA; was s Seminary graduate, and filled a mission for the LDS Church in the North Carolina-Virgini- a area. He is a member of the Vernal Unit of the National Guard and is presently employed by Utah Gas Service in Vernal. A June wedding is planned. Ladies Aid Ladies Aid held its April social meeting in the Myton Community Presbyterian Church sanctuary, Arpil 13, with sixteen women in attendance. Mrs. Dorothy Walker, Roosevelt, and Mrs. Dixie Brown, Duchesne, shared a program of colored slides on the International Peace Gardens in North Dakota and the Peace Gardens in Salt Lake City, giving a history of both places. A violin trio by Mrs. Arwella Moon, Sylvia Dotson and Shirley George, all of Duchesne, completed the program. The business meeting was conducted by Mrs. Ruby Higley, vice president of Ladies' Aid, after which the ladies held a potluck dessert. The May meeting will be held Friday, May 11 at 1 p.m. at the home of Dixie Brown, Duchesne. Ladies of all denominations are welcome to attend. Ladies' Aid continues to quilt at the church each Monday and Wednesday, beginning at 10 a.m. For those newcomers wishing to learn this art, an invitation is extended to join the group. An informal potluck is shared each quilting day. Mrs. Melba Bastian entertained the Monday night Bridge dub at her home April 9. Guests were Mrs. Leon Dump, Margaret Miller, Mrs. Ward Mulford and Mrs. Emerson Oberhansly. A luncheon was served and the evening was spent playing bridge. Mrs. Edward Yack and Mrs. Audrey Sursa won the prizes. Culture Club meets The Culture Club was held at the home of Mrs. Frank Yack, this past Thursday. for the evening were Mrs. Bumps Eldredge and Mrs. Anne Platt. It was favorite recipe night and the husbands were in attendance. The decorations were centered around the Easter theme. Thirty six members were present The evening was spent exchanging recipes and visiting. Roosevelt Lutherans to observe Easter Lutherans of the Roosevelt Duchesne and Altamont areas will meet on Easter evening to observe that sacred day, according to officials of that church. The Rev.
