Air. and Mr3. Wm. Frisby en- National Legion Commander Visits Camp Harry V. Colmery, National Commander of the American, Legion, during his official visit to the Utah dpariment of the American Legion paid a visit to C. C. C. Camp BR-1- 1 at Bridge-lanUtah, on June 4th as the guest of Camp Commander Capt. Floyd W. Goates and his staff. The visit included a dinner, served of the same menu as the enrollees Hat, a tour of inspection, visiting of the 26 mile canal system, the dam and dyke, comprising a part of the Aloon Lake irrigation project. One of the enjoyable features of the visit was an addrt.is by Commander Colmery to the enrolled of the camp, called together especially for the occasion. The Commander experessed appreciation of the opportunity offered young men in the CCC and complimented them for their work accomplishment in the work project they were completing. He spoke of the aims and objectives of the American Legion and told some of the details of the Legion program, Tlieir aim, he said, was one of service to the d, men and to the, nation as a whole, pointing out thai in only this country and England had the returning soldiers of the late war taken their places back in society, peacably, and with a desire to continue their efforts for a peace-tim- e perpetuation of those things for which they had fought in time of war. He stressed the need for a continuing, comprehensive program of Americanism, to keep alive and perpetuate the ideals for which this country was founded. The Commander was accompanied on his visit by Harry T. National Executive Reynolds, Committeeman for the Department of Utah American Legion, Titus Jones, Commander number of Trovo Iost. Commander Colmery organized the first American Legion post in the Uintah Basin while he was a practicing attorney, and his present visit is a happy reunion with f rends whom he has not seen for many years.
