Show TRUTH. IHMning flftatters, The week on the mining stock exchange has not been altogether what might be called prosperous. On the face of things, the business was fairly large, but it is said a large proportion of the transactions were wash sales and the genuine sales and transfers of stock was not extensive. The general tendency of prices was down, very few stocks holding up under the onslaughts of the bears. Wabash and some other stocks, during the last month, suffered big declines without any apparent reason, the conditions of the mines being jnst as good as they were when the stocks were selling at more than double the present figures. Some unfavorable criticism has been made regarding the extent of the wash sales'1 and the ex change, which was recovering from the bod odor it got into last fall, has received something of a set back in the eyes of the public. The managers of the institution should be doubly vigilent in their efforts to keep it free from questionable methods which in the past had so disastrous results. ft ft A strike of two feet of solid galena, with four feet of milling ore carrying gold, silver, copper and lead, has been made in the Highland Hoy Consolidated. ft ft A rich copper-bearin- g has been encountered Gulch group on the channel of ore in the Grand Utah-Arizo- na strip, ft ft A strike of importance has been made in the Keystone of Park City. ft ft Conditions in the Emerland of Tintic are improving. On the 700 level a streak of mineralized quartz eight feet between wails has been uncovered. The assays show $13 in gold and 27 ounces silver. ft ft The proceeds of 158 tons of ore from the Lower Mammoth amounted to $4,G50.11.
