Uuh Thursday, March 25. 1954 Future Farmers to Attend State Meet Judges Listed For Junior Headed by a ncwiy-rlecteslate of officers, a delegation from Bear River high school chapter of Future Farmers of America will attend a two-da- y state F.F.A. convention Friday and Saturday in Salt Lake City. Carole Ann Gibbs, Portage, chosen "Sweetheart" of the local chapter recently, will compete against the sweethearts from 55 other chapters for the title of "State F.F.A Sweetd heart." Chapter delegates will Vf t f serve committees during the convention and will compete for state honors in several events, according to Howard Johnson, advisor. Officers Elected The new officers are Edward Tsutsui, president; Shirrel Silvester, vice president; Max Turley, secretary; Reese Marble, treasurer; LaMoyne Roberts, historian; Kenneth Ward, represident; Shirrell Silvester, vice president; porter, and Lyle Ilunsaker, sent, LaMoyne Roberts, historian; Lyle Hun-sake- r, inel. Past president is Clarence sentinel, and Howard Johnson, Roberts. Miss Gibbs, a contestant for the state sweetheart title, is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William L. Gibbs of Portage. LOCAL DAIRYMAN HONORED John F. Eberhard was honored at the recent meeting of the North Box Elder Dairy Herd A Association. Improvement certificate of production merit was presented to Mr. Eberhard by Lyman H. Rich, extension dairyman of the USAC, and his name was placed on the Nat-ionhonor roll. He won the honor by producing from his s herd of nine registered an average of more than 500 pounds of butterfat for the year 1953. The Eberhard herd is one of three herds in the state of Utah to qualify for the award and recognition. This production is almost double the amount of butterfat produced by the average milk cow.
