Show Universal Kicrofilming Corp, 27?iiv Ave. Memorial Gym Ik Opens With Program, Win Bear River high school's new Memorial Gymnasium was dedi cated during impressive serv ices Friday night before a larg crowd of dignitaries, students and spectators. And the structure was given its first work-ou- t by guided tours, speakers, basketball play ers and visitors. Seven speakers gave brief re marks concerning the building and its beauties, while musical groups from the school and community added their tributes Visitors were shown the rooms and facilities of the spac ious new classroom wing, and were greatly impressed. But it remained for the high school's basketball squad to give Memorial Gymnasium its ."initiation." The Bears thumped a cham4 pionship Preston team, in a real thriller. Ine lired-uhoopsters gave the student cheering section and plenty to scream about they did. An intermission feature was a modern dance portrayal of the building's erection, which captured the audience. VFW members have dubbed "Kris themselves Kringle's Korporals," for their project of making Christmas brighter for needy Bear River Valley fam ilies. Members spent Wednesday and Thursday nights working on the toys, but this week issued an appeal for more used toys. A load of lumber was delivered this week to the Bear River high school shops, where the Young Farmers will build the bleachers during coming weeks under supervision of Howard Johnson, advisor. The seating unit will be so that it can be stored during the winter season, and then used to accomodate officials and participants in the judging contests, a highlight of the annual fair. Seats for 50 Seating for approximately 50 persons will be provided. The stands will be used behind the exhibit building where contests are now held, but will also fit in with a master plan of the Fairgrounds judging arena in future years.
