Show 1985 14, Aerobic Exercises Offered Older Workers Week Slated March 10 through 16, 1985, is "National Employ the Older Worker Week. Older workers (workers aged over 55 years) comprise an increasing percentage of the population. The United States population is an aging population, and, during the next few years, will develop a structure of more workers over 55 than there are younger. This will result in important changes in our approach to working, to hiring, and especially to the concept of retirement. Retirement may well become a matter of ones physical and mental ability to con tinue working, rather than a matter of chronological age. In the state of Utah, there are three sources of Title V jobs for older workers. Green Thumb, Inc., is the largest, then the U.S. Forest Service, and then the state. The state employs their Title V workers through the Associations of Government (AOGs), and generally utilizes them in Senior Centers and similar type agencies. The Forest Service utilizes all of their people in Forest Service jobs. Green Thumb develops jobs for the people who work for them in many agencies. In Tooele County there are some Title V positions controlled by the Tooele County Aging and Adult Services office. Green Thumb has people working for Tooele City, and has had workers at the Oquirrh School. Anyone interested in Title V jobs, should contact the Tooele Job Service Office (Sharon Tomlin, Tooele County Aging and Adult Services (Frank Reed, or Green Thumb, Inc. (Doug Mecham, Green Thumb 882-7700- ), 882-2870- ), Area Supervisor, 566-9448- ). A class in aerobic exercise for ladies 40 and older will be offered starting Monday, March 18, 1985.
