With special teachers and special Editor a wonderful I would like to share equipment those kids learn the same things at their school as we learned and as our children are experience with everyone. I had the opportunity to spend the day Tuedsay at the Utah School for the Blind in Ogden. I was very amazed at the students and teachers and the whole school staff. There was not only teaching the basics but teaching those kids that they can be what they want to be. There was so much love and care going out to those kids from everyone in the school. I didnt pity those children, I was happy for them. Why pity someone who doesnt need or want it. Those kids are so intelligent and so special. learning now. Those children are happy children and they want to learn. I saw the beautiful smiles on their little faces when they were in their music class and I also saw them sit down and concentrate on their work. The safety for those kids is absolutely marvelous. The whole school is kept clean and sanitary. The kids are always watched by an adult at all times. So much love and care . v goes to those children and the children return that love and care to those teachers and staff. Im so happy to have had the chance to witness all these things at a very special school full of very special people. God bless them all. My admiration goes out to them. Brenda Nichols Those kids work so hard they give everything they have to keep on going and learning. I saw the speech therpaist work with a little boy who had really come a long way since he started at the school. And the physical thera lost a concerned and capable administrator and friend because of lack of support from the hospital board and county commissioners. Also, a number of capable, conscientious staff members are frustrated by the atmosphere that has been created because of this lack of support. Perhaps most importantly is the On With Business pist works real hard with the kids and it was really wonderful to be able to see all of that. Its not just the teachers and students, its also the ladies who set real nice tables and put so much love and care into the meals they prepare for those kids. The kids are being taught to be self sufficient, to care about themselves and everyone around them. Editor: As a concerned employee at Tooele Valley Hospital, I must com-meabout the developments and changes occurring at the hospital currently. Holy Cross Hospital management has been, and continues to be willing to work with the Tooele Valley Hospital Board of Directors and Tooele County Commissioners. However, their efforts to supply Tooele Valley Hospital with management expertise has been continually thwarted by lack of support and the inability of the governing board of this hospital to make a fact that the residents of this county, who are paying for the operation of this hospital, deserve to have their interests protected. Indeed the members of the governing body of this hospital say they advocate the best interest of the community, but their actions show that they are unable or unwilling to take a stand on a contro- decision. versial issue. The board of directors of Tooele Valley Hospital and the County Commissioners seem to have ignored their duty to the hospital and They seem to be too easily swayed by the whims and wishes of a few vocal special interest groups who do not really care community because of the in- fluence of the medical staff here. This hospital and community has about the burden that this hospital is to the taxpayers of this Someone needs to be an advocate of the taxpayer throughout this controversy. The issue can be addressed by asking two basic questions: What is the best use of a county facility for the benefit of the taxpayer, and should the interest' of the residents who pay for this facility be overlooked for the benefit of the medical staff. How can Tooele County best meet the health care needs of this community. Obviously an acute care hospital with 60 percent care vacancy and a long-terfacility with 100 percent occupancy and a waiting list does not make sense. May I urge the Hospital Board of Directors and County Commissioners to make a decision concerning the future of this institution so those of us who are most concerned about providing quality patient care can get on with our business. I turned around and picked him up. I tearfully delivered him to the Humane Society of Utah knowing his chances of ever finding a home were next to none. Later that afternoon while on my way home, again on top of the viaduct sat another puppy. Both were It was snowing very hard and the puppy was covered with a white blanket of snow. Yes, I Lab-cros- s. picked him up as well. After picking up the second puppy I walked along the viadut looking for more, more puppies that someone had dumped. I used to wonder when I was a child why batches of puppies and kittens were called "litters. I now know. They are called litters because people treat them like trash. When they are bom they are new, cute and nice for a while, but then they grow. They are not new anymore so we throw them out like the old bicycle or chair we no longer have use for. When I took the puppy home my other animal greeted him, for they too had been discarded by their previous owners. For the two days this little guy was at my house he knew what it was to be warm, he knew what it was to have a full belly and have someone care. I even game him a name, Smilie. He would curl his upper lips and smile at me. I wonder, did his other owner ever see him smile? He stayed inside my house all this time. He had no "accidents and would relieve himself with the other dogs when I let him outside. This puppy knew what it was to feel love. Yes, I fell in love with this puppy. All people who care about animals have too many. I knew when I picked him up I would not be able to keep him. I cried for him and I will continue to cry for all of them. I wonder were there only the two puppies, or were there more? Did the person who dumped these puppies know there is a written law against abandoning animals? Did this person really think they could survive on their own? Or did this person justify what he had done by thinking some kind soul would pick them up and theyd all live happily ever after? What goes through the minds of people who do this, I wonder? Well, now I will tell you what will probably happen to both of these puppies. They will be listed along with all the other 19,000 animals the Humane Society kills each year. They will never grow to be adults or know what a good home is all about. They will know none of 10 QUART PRESTO GALVANIZED POP CORN NOW BUCKETS in acrylic semi gloss Available or white in colors. nunutet, OR WORK BOOT IN STOCK DURING OUR They're great lor camping) authentic 99 1 I I 5.00 ON MOON BOOTS REQ.11 Winter Frost Whit Spring lloiiem Green Butterfly Geld Old Tew $ SAVE GUNS $y99 Ra.'14.S0 Blue Woodland Brown $g99 Morning Blu deludes: 4 4 4 4 Plate Bowl Cup Saucer 99 REGULARLY 34.99 mu. 2.39 $1I 39 o.
