The lights, decorations and scenes are so beautiful, the were hard juding committee pressed to pick winners. Their decisions however were announced Sunday evening. The home of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Charles won the $10 first prize. Mr. and Mrs. Don Ross Anderson won second prize of $5 and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Drake won third prize of $5. Nine other winners won boxes of candy. Grantsville Volunteer Fire Department will present the New Years Eve Dance, Dec. 31 at 9 at the GHS gym. Dancing until 1 a m. $1.50 per couple, 75 cents extra lady. Why not spend New Years Eve in Grantsville? Everyone is invited. See you at the dance! pm. Edwards and children, Bob, Dave, and Sheila, of San Diego, arrived Saturday to spend the Christmas and New Year holidays with Mrs. Edward's mother, Mrs. J. A. VanNess-ansister and family, Mr. and Mrs. Dean Hammond. MR. AND MRS. BOYD CHILTON and children, Mike. Kevin, and Michelle, spent Christmas Eve with Mrs. Chilton's parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. V. Jenkins, of Salt Lake City. Also present at the family party, which included dinner, singing, and a Christmas tree, were Mrs. Chilton's sister and family, Mr. and Mrs. John B. Stagg. Mr. and Mrs. Byron Townsend visited their grandson, Stephen Townsend, in Blackfoot, Idaho, last week. They were accompanied by their grand daughter, Miss Marty Ann Townsend. Mr. and Mrs. Clayne J. Shephard of Redwood City, Calif, are spending the holidays in Tooele as the guests of Dr. and Mrs. A. Jay DeLaMare MRS, NETTIE RUSSELL has with her for the holidays her son and family, Mr. and Mrs. Grant Russell and daughter Janet of Twin Falls, Idaho. Mrs. Helen Howard and daughters, Barbara and Kathy, entertained at a family party on Christmas Eve. Those present were Mrs. Howard's mother, Mrs. Nettie Russell, Mr. and Mrs. Grant Russell and Janet: Mr. and Mrs. Reed Russell and Phil, Ann, Bill and Joan; Mr. and Mrs. Paul Hammond and Carol and Richard; Mr. and Mrs. Russell Hammond, and Mrs. Jennie Lacey. Beta Sigma Phi will hold its annual Christmas party on Saturday evening in the Coral Room of the Kirk Hotel. 2 MR. AND MRS. McKAY entertained at a family dinner for rteven people on Christmas day. Z Miss Ann McAlister is in Pocatello visiting her cousin, Miss lyiary Ann Stedtfeld. She will return in Tooele after New Years. Mr. and Mrs. George Buzianis spent Christmas Eve and Christmas day in Salt Lake with their daughter and family. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Hatch and baby son, Seean. The Clark Ward will hold a food sale Saturday, Dec. 29 at 10 a m. in the Grantsville Drug store. This will be an opportunity to replenish the holiday food supply in time for New Years Day. Dont miss it. Sponsored by the Clark Ward Relief Society. Community Development Shows Results Project Banquet Held At Grantsville . A five ward (Project Temple) banquet was held Wednesday, Dec. 5 in the Grantsville High School lunch room. A delicious turkey dinner was served to approximately 140 people. Mrs. Hartley Palmer was chairman of the food and decorating committee and she was assisted by the wives of the five ward bishoprics. The program was under direction of George C. Millward. A warm welcome was given by Kenneth Johnson and Don Johnson took over as Master of Ceremonies. Bishop Hartley Palmer gave the opening prayer. Dinner was served and the program was presented while the guests were eating. A quartet of ladies from Erda sang a medley of Christmas songs. Bonnie Droubay, Emma Warr, Ruth Gordon and Mrs. Bryan made up the quartet. Don Johnsons daughters danced two original Hawaiian dances and the girls wore native costumes. Janet Cutere, accordianist from the BYU played several numbers. Miss Cutere has traveled extensively and has performed for many groups. None could have been more appreciative than the one this evening. Her glowing personality pleased all. Miss Cutere was accompanied to Grantsville by her mother and Mr. and Mrs. J. Reuben Clark, FIRST Charles PLACE WINNER The Jess home at 357 West Main Street. Grantsville, caught the fancy of the Home coming for Joel Orgill will be held Sunday evening at 5 p.m. In the Second Ward chapel. The public is Invited. The Grantsville Community Association was Development very active during the year. A master plan for planting shade trees on the streets was prepared by Mr. A. E. Smith, of USU, and adopted for use. The area around the new fire station was seeded to g r a s s and shrubs planted. A city park was laid out, three ball diamonds were leveled and shade trees planted. Mr. Smith drew up tree planting guide for the park. A clean-ucampaign was held. Old trees, buildings and fences were cleaned up. A cemetery Leon and Janice George White beautification plan was adopted Tooele, son, Dec. 25. and started. A Christmas home Lester and Dione Jones Clark. Lake Point, son, Dec. 22. decoration contest was held, with orizes donated by the merGordon and Carol Feather-ston- e chants. A paint Walters Tooele, son, Dec. up con23. test was also held. A survey of the community Jerry and Camille Tate was made. Tooele, daughter, Dec. 26. A program to zone Grantsville was developed. Four meetings LeRoy and LaRue Soelberg. on this subject have been held Jr., Grantsville, daughter, Dec. 24. so far. E. Allreds home during the Christinas holidays. Mr. Woolley Is Ramp Chief in 6enver for the United Air Lines And has recently returned from a business trip to France. He showed many of the pic tures he had taken on his trip, on his projector. The pictures were excellent and several were so outstanding that everyone agreed they could be used in a travel brochure of France. Their son Kent will enroll at the U. of U. this spring and he plans to visit in Grantsville often. Mr. and Mrs. Woolley will return to Denver on Friday. The quartet from Erda entertained with another number, after which testimonies were born by several in the group, Mr. Fox, Mr. Egbert and Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Baird. Remarks were made by President Arthur Barrus. Kenneth Johnson expressed his apprecia- tion and the evening was concluded with prayer by Bishop McKay Johnson. Many of the people in this group are planning to attend the special Temple Day which is planned for sometime in week-en- d coming up!
