Road Shows uni state e nor in were a yielding the , 1 o beM ,te On hunter success, though spoil storms in some of these sections! had made the going rough a had heavier storm m most mountain langes to the south. A predicted earlier, hunters were finding the deer well scattered from the lower elevation juni-- ' per benches to timber line in the high country. One result of the adverse hunting conditions during the early season is a probable reduced deerj harvest in contrast to the heavy take that had been expected. Records show nearly half the ani-mals taken each year are killed during the opening weekend of the season. Game managers were hoping to day for good weather during the second weekend of the general season which ends o'ver much of the state on October 23 They pre- dieted good hunter success for those unsuccessful hunters going afield if the current storm period in time to make access passe and hunting possible in much of the mountain country now inaccessible to noimal travel Hunters were reminded also that the regular license and tag may be used during extended seasons in all or part of eleven deer herd units. They should save that unused tag if they intend to go afield during these later hunts. All the areas where extended seasons are set may be checked in the 1357 deer proclamation under the item listed Extended Seas jjouse- - 12-mo- Bonus! Veterans News More holding than 2,833,000 veterans GI life insurance policies are saving time and money by paying their premiums m advance Sumner G. Whittier, Chief Insurance Director of Veterans Administration has announced He said they comprise nearly GO per cent of the 4,837,000 GI policy - holders who make direct remittance to VA for their insurance premiums Of those making advance payments, Mr. Whittier said, 203,000 pay annually, 643,000 pav semiannually, and 981,000 make quarterly remittances to VA Paying premiums in advance estimates the chance of a veteran forgetting monthly premiums, an action which might cause the policy to lapse, according to Mr. Whit tier. In addition to saving postage he said, GI pwlicy - holders in advance get the benefit of a discount in the premium rate. Advance payments at a discount can be made for any period up to the full life of the policy if the veteran desires, he said Information about advance payment of GI insurance premiums is available from the VA office servicing the policy, or from any VA local contact office.
