Project Continues to Effect 500 East in AF According to the Utah Department of Transportation, (UDOT) closed 1-15 on the nights of October 1 and 2 from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. for Beam Placement on the 500 East Bridge in American Fork. Crews were setting bridge girders (beams) on the south bridge of the new interchange. The 500 East bridge is one of 63 structures on 1-15 CORE that will be new, rebuilt or modified on the 24-mile project. proj-ect. Lane restrictions both nights began at 10 p.m. leading to the full closure at 11 p.m. Freeway traffic was diverted at the on- and off-ramps. For east and west access, motorists were asked to use 100 East or 300 West in American Fork or Pleasant Grove Boulevard. Crews will be placing beams on the 500 East Bridge on 1-15. This week Southbound 1-15 between 100 East in American Fork and 200 South in Lindon will be reduced to three lanes starting as soon as Saturday, October 9, and will continue for the next two weeks. This is only the second time the project has needed to restrict a lane during daytime day-time hours on 1-15. Southbound South-bound on- and off-ramps at the 500 East interchange will be closed beginning as early as Sunday, October 10, for the next 20 days, the first daytime ramp closure on the project. East-west access on 500 East over 1-15 will remain open. Crews will be performing perform-ing concrete paving operations. opera-tions. Motorists are advised to use American Fork Main Street or Pleasant Grove Boulevard Bou-levard interchanges as alternate alter-nate routes in this area. A northbound single-lane restriction re-striction and northbound ramp closures will occur in the following fol-lowing weeks leading up to a full interchange closure at 500 East later this month. |
