Show Pleasant Grove Chamber Welcomes Kate's Quilting Block to Downtown The Pleasant Grove City's economic plan was to increase the number of high quality and friendly retail shops in their downtown area. Kate's Quilting Block is a charming addition to both the historic downtown area and the city. Pleasant Grove Chamber of Commerce and city personnel officially welcomed the newest downtown retail location lo-cation in a ribbon cutting ceremony cere-mony Thursday, September 23, 2010. The mother-daughter team recently opened Kate's Quilting Block after an extensive remodel and upgrade, especially to the exterior, earning them the city's "Extra Mile Award' given to store owners that improve their appearance. "We were drawn to this building," said Connie Radmall, owner of Kate's Quilting Block. She knew the building needed a revamp after learning the original origi-nal construction dated around the 1860's. Radmall wanted both the business and the building to tie back to their family predecessors. predeces-sors. "After researching the building's history, we decided to bring the building back to it's roots." Modeled after store fronts in historic Nauvoo, the building fits perfectly with Pleasant Grove and Radmall's pioneer heritage. Kate's Quilting Block is named after Radmall's grandmother, grand-mother, Kate, who taught her children and grandchildren the art and joy of quilting. "Quilting is a legacy, handed down through generations," said Radmall. "I was raised under a quilt frame at quilting bees where I learned all about quilting. The trick is to have fun and enjoy it." Kate's Quilting Block offers beautiful fabrics, notions, no-tions, batting and everything involving quilting, crafts and handiwork. They offer Block of the Month Club, beginning quilting, braided rug and embroidery em-broidery classes. Store hours are Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday Satur-day 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For class schedules, kits and information, contact con-tact Kate's Quilting Block, 25 East 100 South, Pleasant Grove, Utah, 801-360-1747. i : ......
