Show L H. Snyder Services Held In Salt lake Funeral services were held in Salt Lake City Sat-urady Sat-urady for E. H. Snyder, 78, prominent mining econom-mist econom-mist and engineer, and assistant" as-sistant" to the president of Atlas Minerals, in Moab. Mr. Snvder died Wednesday Wednes-day in Salt Lake City, following fol-lowing a long illness. As a founder president: and chairman of the board of the Uranium Reluction Companv, at Moab, in the 1950's Mr. Snyder was instrumental in-strumental in development of Utah's uranium industry He was also instrumental in developing the treatment treat-ment of lead zinc and silver sil-ver ores, and contributed much to the future of the U. S. zinc industry. His work in the 1920's at a Florence, Colorado, pilot plant led to profitable mining min-ing of low grade ore at Pioche, and thence to construction con-struction of a 200-ton plant at Bauer, Tooele Co. Mr. Snyder was president presi-dent of the Utah Mining Association in 194G, and a memfoer of the Board at the time of his death. He was a vice president of Bristol Silver Mines, Inc., and president of W. F. Sny der and Sons and Snyder Mines, Inc. He was born at Frisco, Beaver County, February 12, 1889, to Willard F and Dora Walker Snyder. He attended high school in Salt Lake City. He graduated from Mich-ig'an Mich-ig'an College of Mines in . 1911 with an engineer of mines degree, and in 1964 the school awarded him an honorary doctor of engineering engine-ering degree. He was a contract engineer until he joined Combined Metals, Inc., in 1915. He was vice president and manager of the firm when . it became Combined Metals Reduction Reduc-tion Co., a subsidiary of National Lead Co.; in 1923. .. He married the former Marie Cushing May 14, 1912; she preceeded him in death. Surviving are a son and three daughters, E. II. Snyder, Jr., Mrs. Mitchell (Doris) Melich, and Mrs. Corwin H. (Virginia) Lik-ins, Lik-ins, all of Salt Lake City, and Mrs. LeRoy (Edwarda Leila) Dickerson, of Idaho Falls. Also 14 grandchildren; grandchild-ren; two brothers, Neal D. and Guy Snyder, Salt Lake City, and two sisters, Mrs. George A. McHugh, Boise, and Mrs. II. B. Bryan, of Portland Several Moabites attended attend-ed services at the Congregational Con-gregational Church, in Salt Lake City Saturday Interment Inter-ment was in. Mount Olivet Cemetery. |
