Show I , . i i it f ' ' Claude and Ima Irish Moab Couple Honored On 50th Anniversary An open house was held at the Senior Citizen's Center in Moab on Feb. 1 in honor of the 50th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Claude M. Irish. They had been married mar-ried in Moab on Feb. 4, 1925. Mrs. Irish is the former for-mer Ima Carrie Stocks and was born in Moab. Mr. Irish was born in Lake Crystal, Minn., and came to Moab in 1924. They have six children, twenty grandchildren and five great grandchildren. One daughter, Mrs. Harold Har-old (Arlis) Couch, and two sons, Dale and Max reside in Moab with their families. Approximately 128 guests greeted Mr. and Mrs. Irish and enjoyed en-joyed light refreshments, visiting and remeniscing over a display of photographs pho-tographs depicting the 50 years. Later in the evening nearly fifty relatives gathered ga-thered at the Ramada Inn Restaurant for dinner. The main dish was Mexican Mex-ican food that had been prepared by a grand-daughter-in-law, Mary Lou Shupe, who is employed em-ployed there. During the evening champagne and a lovely wedding cake decorated dec-orated by daughter LaRae Gaskins, were served. Out of town guests included: in-cluded: Mr. and Mrs. Gene Irish (son), Mr. and Mrs. Harley (LaRae) Gaskins and daughter, Laura Shupe, all of Salt Lake City; Mr. and Mrs. Jerry (Karen) DeVilbiss and children, Kimberley and Drew of Colorado Springs, Colo.; Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Shupe (grandson) (grand-son) of Spokane, Wash.; Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Shupe (grandson) and children, Raymond and Elizabeth, of Glenwood Springs, Colo.; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Ames (sister (sis-ter of Mrs. Irish) and their daughter, Mrs. Walt Casto of Gateway, Colo.; and Mrs. Paul Burrisand daughter, Terri (cousins of the Harold Couch fa mily), from Grand Junction, Junc-tion, Colo. Three grandsons grand-sons and one great grandson grand-son were unable to attend. They are Mike Irish of California, Gary Shupe, stationed in Korea with the U.S. Army, and Marvin Mar-vin Irish, who with his wife Diana and son, Robbie, Rob-bie, live in Aztec, N.M. have our local meeting before Jan Oliveto from Price takes over. |
