Show Moab Four Wheelers Now Functioning Here Grand County now has its own organized club of four wheel drive enthusiasts. en-thusiasts. Two recent meetings have established estab-lished the Moab Four Wheelers. Officers elected el-ected al the latest meeting meet-ing of the club were president. The club intends to organize further fur-ther to become a nonprofit non-profit corporation under Utah State laws. At that time, a board of directors direct-ors will be elected, and certain standing committees com-mittees will be appointed. appoint-ed. A pro tern committee commit-tee has already been established es-tablished for the purpose purp-ose of dev ising corporate corpor-ate bylaws. .Named to this committee were "Slim" Mabery as chairman, plus Fran Barnes. Keith Peterson, and Jack and Cindy Cor-bin. Cor-bin. Fran Barnes was also named temporary publicity director for the club. Pending its incorporation incorpor-ation and the establishment establish-ment of a membership committee, anyone may join the Moab Four W heelers by meeting the following three requirements: require-ments: 1. Payment of S10.00 annual dues per family. j 2. Ownership of a four w heel drive vehicle. 3. Willingness tocom- pi with club bylaws. by-laws. Individual families wishing to join the Moab Four Wheelers should contact Connie Caouette at 259-6107 (days) or 259-5619 (evenings), or attend the next regular club meeting on Thursday, Thurs-day, March 8 at 7:30 p.m. in the showroom at Peterson Ford on South Main. One of the first items of business for the new club will be to establish an activity program. A program committee will prepare a schedule of club activities from ideas contributed by club members. No firm plans have been made to date, but some form of regular club safari is expected, as well as two or three special rallies a year in which four wheel drive clubs from nearby cities will be invilod to participate. Club pr esident Connie C a o u e 1 1 e emphasized that the Moab Four Wheelers is a private club, entirely separate from the annual Moab Jeep Safari effort. He indicated, however, that the pool of cxpertcsc, experience and manpower man-power that the club represents re-presents would be available avail-able to city and county officials in the planning of promotional events involving off-road ve-1 hides. Mr. Caouette had this to say about the formation form-ation of the new club: "We formed the Moab Four Wheelers because several of us felt that it was high time Moab had a four wheeler club. After all, Moab is in the very heart of the best four-wheeling country, in America, and should certainly have its own off-road organization. |
