Show LETTERS TO THE EDITOR Editor: I am writing in hopes of enlightening en-lightening parents on the policies poli-cies of conduct that our establishment es-tablishment (the Holiday Theatre) The-atre) has set forth for their children. This is a far cry from an ad, as we are asking the parents to either accompany accomp-any their children to the movie mo-vie in the future or to send them equipped with adequate manners and respect for other oth-er people and their property that they will conduct them selves in a fashion that is acceptable. ac-ceptable. This concerns practically all the parents here, as we usually get most of their children at one time or another an-other and the Friday night problem is not any secret. An example should be last Friday Fri-day night I was confronted with a mother who tried to slander me, as I had asked her daughter to leave for a very good reason, also her father fa-ther confronted me later with two policemen. A few minutes min-utes later another "lady" who's daughter had also left at my request, called and told me "to go to hell" 'and then hung up. We are not a babysitting agency. ag-ency. We want and need the town's business and support. But not the kind where, our name is slandered and we are cursed at. These mothers were neither uneducated nor uncivilized. They also were apparently not interested in listening to the truth. This is not the first or the fifth or the tenth time I have been confronted con-fronted with "the mother problem." prob-lem." However, it should be understood that no one is asked ask-ed to leave unless their rudeness rude-ness and disrespect for others have caused concern for the comfort of the other patrons. To quell a few nasty remarks re-marks brought to my attention atten-tion We do not hate children child-ren (we have five of our own who also have not reached perfection yet) We are not (take your choice) running an opium den, bootleg joint, cen ter for orgies, or a communist commu-nist meeting house. We are neither unclean nor unfit in any respect as managers, parents pa-rents or human beings. In the future, if they can be reached, all parents will be called to come and pick up their children if they are asked to leave. This is not always al-ways possible if their child will not give a name or slams the door in my face. I have lived in Moab for almost al-most nineteen years now and it is my home and I love it. However, malicious slander, disrespect, and total unconcern uncon-cern from many of the parents par-ents has brought this about and we cannot tolerate that kind of business.
