Show EAST UTAH CLUB WOMEN HOLD state officers pronounce it best convention ever held in district price green river and monticello represented delegates from the federated clubs of the eastern utah district met at moab saturday in what was pronounced by state officers as the most successful district convention ever held in utah forty delegates from the clubs of price green river and monticello were in attendance and with the members of the comans womans literary club of moab which sponsored the conven hon constituted the best attended sessions ever held in the district mrs C E maw of provo of the utah federation of clubs mrs grace L foutz of price state historian and mrs G R west of price state director the eastern district represented the state organization mrs maw was especially impressed with the success of the convention stating saturday night that the sessions were among the most interesting and profitable she had ever attended she complimented impost highly the comans womans literary club of moab for the careful preparations that had been made for the meetings and for the efficient sri anner in which every detail was earned out the convention was the eleventh annual meeting of the eastern utah district federation two business sessions were held one in the forenoon and the other in the afternoon an elaborate banquet was tendered the visiting club in the evening As an enjoyable finale a boat trip down the colorado nver sunday forenoon was arranged for the entertainment of the visitors the first session convened saturday at 10 30 a m in the baptist church with mrs R K patterson district president presiding com singing was led by miss bethel watts after which the club litany by alice amos winter was conducted by miss clara M kramer of price mrs H C goodman one of the charter members of the bonx ans literary club of moab gave the address of welcome mrs L R fullmer of price responding mrs patterson then introduced the state officers in attendance including mrs maw state president mrs foutz state historian mrs west state dl rector and mrs J II 11 ballinger acting secretary A vocal duet larboard watch was sung by parley and oscar jameson officers of the seven member clubs of the eastern utah federation then made reports on the years activities as follows rebus rota club of mon tic ellot mrs D B perkins comans womans club of A gibson comans womans literary club moab mrs D E bald win the reports showed that the federated clubs are taking a leading part in their respective in civic improvements and were striking compendiums of the asplend id work being accomplished by the clubs of eastern utah mrs J W hammond led in a disi dis i cassion of proposed revisions of the constitutions and bylaws by laws of the state and district federations the report of the credentials committee was submitted by mrs henry rug gen at 12 30 a complimentary luncheon was tendered the visiting dele gates by the moab club being held in the basement of the baptist church I 1 at 1 15 p m in executive session the convention elected mrs R K patterson of moab and mrs D E perkins of monticello as delegates toi the state convention at provo with mrs L R fullmer of price and mrs fred W keller of monticello as al tern atea mrs R K patterson of moab was nominated for delag ite to the national council at grand rapids mich with mrs harry T rowland of green river as alternate the election of this delegate will be held at the state convention the annual meeting date for the eastern utah federation was changed from april to september seventy six members were present at the afternoon general session which convened at 2 15 the district president mrs patterson reported on the activities of tha federation displaying a loving cup which the district has held for two years she advised the stressing of americanization work in the schools and also advocated the staging af pf annual art exhibits by the member clubs mrs G R west district director reported on the organization of dubs in eastern utah mrs henry representing inc mrs W C perry chairman of americanization submitted a report of the work of this committee for the year showing that foreigners had been given assistance in fitting themselves for american citizenship A solo by mrs R H dalrymple of sego with mrs charles bruggen ruggen of price as accompanist comp anist followed mrs grace L fouts chairman of the art committee announced plans for bringing to eastern utah really worth while art exhibits and solicited the operation cooperation co of the member clubs mrs george chistensen chairman of the international relations committee suggested that each club in the district devote time at least ten minutes of each program to international relations or give one program each year on this subject mrs G R west reported for mrs ora B hardag relative to the work of the committee on community singing mrs J W hammond chairmen reported on the work of the committee on objectionable tio magazines that progress has been made during the year to curtail the publication of undesirable literature two states washington and new york having passed laws on the subject mrs C A robertson of moab mrs F W keller of monticello and mrs J P almonson Sl monson of green river reported on conditions in their respective communities relative to this matter mrs grace L fouts state historian asked the president of each federated club to send her during the ensuing a brief history of her club A vocal duet by mrs R II 11 dalrymple and miss bethel watts with mrs charles bruggen ruggen as accompanist followed the address of the afternoon session was made by mrs C E maw state president she complimented ted the district officers and the moab club on the success of the session stating that it was the largest district convention ever held in the state she suggested that the may edition of the payroll builder the official organ of the federation be mcade an eastern utah edition and that it include air of the reports of clubs that had been submitted at the morning session mrs maw stressed the need for more spirituality in the home as contributed by art and literature era ture and mentioned the work the clubs are performing in this cause she told of the growth of the seste federation and urged as a slogan for the coming year club women in utah A courtesy committee composed of mrs B W dalton of price mrs mrs D B of monticello and mrs J P simonson of green river presented resolutions thanking the ladies of moab for opening their homes to the visiting delegates the moab garage company for the river boat gnp the times independent for printing the moab drug company for ice cream and the baptist end L D S churches for the use of their buildings monticello Monti celto was chosen for the 1928 convention of the district federation which will be held in the month of september the visiting club women were tendered a sumptuous banquet saturday evening at the I 1 D S recreation hall by the moab club the distinct colors purple and gold were earned out the dinner was served by the domestic art girls of the high school under the direction of miss jessie dark mrs J P simonson of green river was toastmistress and those who responded to toasts were mrs gomer peacock of price mrs harry tasker of green river mrs G 0 patterson of moab mr s grace L fouts of price and mrs C E maw of provo state president several musical numbers rendered during the binquet were greatly appreciated the chistensen chorus sang two songs a solo was rendered bv mrs mark II ammond of monticello a cornet duet by arthur and parley ja evson of moab a solo by mrs charles hone of ance and a dance and musical number by misses oella buhler and adia stevena of monticello A reading was given by mrs A J monticello most of the cialli aig delegates remained over sunday to enjoy the boat trip down he colorado river given through the courtesy of the moab garage company tha boat left the moab dock at 8 with a hundred people on board and went down the ten miles at jl 30 lunch was served on board and at 2 the boat armed at the dock on the trip the day was a
