Future plans for the club dude .a parkihg lot and a driveway for this area. i ;r B s I nr r I THE DUGWAY PROVING GROUND Officers' Open Mess was established in July of 1850. Today, membership for the OOM totals over 280 persons. ACTIVE MEMBERSHIP is extended to all officers and warrant officers of all services on permanent duty at Dugway Proving Ground. Associate membership is granted to all officers arid warrant officers of all services on temporary duty, detached service, attached unassigned or in a transient status at Dugway. Associate membership in the OOM may also be intended to certain Department of the Army civilians and other selected civilian personnel employed at Dugway, as determined by the Board of Governors. Honorary membership is granted to reserve and retired personnel of the armed services. The Officers Open Mess main responsibility is to conduct recreational and social activities for its members. This is accomplished by providing facilities, equipment and services as Helmed necessary and proper by the club's Board of Governors. THE OOM OFFERS various forms of entertainment - for example, the Party of the Month, which is sponsored by the different units located at Dugway. On Aloha Night", OOM members departing Dugway are given a farewell party. The OOM also eaten to the younger set. Teas for the Girl Scouts, dinners for the Little Leaguers, and dances for Dugway High School are periodically scheduled The Officers Open Mes also contributes to the Youth Activities Fund on post, as does the Noncommissioned Officers Open Mess. CW2 Don J. Rhodes is the food service adv&or and the OOM secretary. He arrived at Dugway in June of 1968 and assumed charge of the OOM last September. He is married and has three children - one boy and two girls. His last duty station was in Vietnam, where he was assigned to the First Infantry Division. A native of Utah, Mr. Rhodes was born in Garland. IN DISCUSSING THE future plans of the OOM, Mr. Rhodes mentioned the possibility of constructing a new pacing lot adjacent to the front entrance of the dub, paving the club's driveway and enclosing the outdoor patio area to nnnAi). larger parties. THE NONCOMMISSIONED OFFICERS Open Mess was constructed in 1952 at a cost of $238,600. In September of 1963, an addition was completed to complement the present structure. Today, the NCO Open Mess has a membership of over 250 persons. Active membership is extended to all noncommissioned officers of all services and specialists of the armed forces. Associate membership is extended to all noncommissioned officers and specialists at the installation on temporary duty, detached service, attached unassigned, or in transient status, and to those individuals who belong to reserve components of the armed forces. ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP is also extended to Civil Service employees at Dugway. in grades GS-- 1 through GS-WB-- 1 to WB-and contractors and their employees. Honorary membership, as determined by thfe clubs Board of Governors and approved by the post commander, is limited to retired enlisted personnel in grades of E-- 4 and above. The NCO Open Mess secretary is SSG Raymond Ni Fukuda. SSG Fukuda has been assigned tq Dugway since December 1964. He's married and has two children - one boy and one girl. He took charge of the NCO Open Mess in March of 1966. The NCO Open Mess has eight e and approximately ten part-tim- e employees. THE BUSINESS of the NCO Open Mess is conducted by a Board of Governors. Members of the Board are elected annually during the yearly general meeting, from and by the active members of the NCO Open Mess. Meetings of the Board of Governors are held monthly. Presently, the NCO Club plans to remodel their restrooms and cocktail lounge. The club also hopes to install a doughnut bakery in the near future. GAMES NIGHT at the NCO Club!
