Three trophies were captured by two of the new shooters with the Post Rifle Team in Salt Lake City March 26. Firing in the Utah State High Match Power Rifle Warm-U- p sponsored by the Utah State Rifle and Pistol Association, 1st Lt. Gordon Roselle and Sp4 Robert Deren-an- l captured three first place 206-yar- d offhand match. Sp4 Derenard shooting in the Marksman class won firsts in both the 600 yard slow fire match and the Utah State Rifle and Pistol Association Match which was an aggregate of the offhand and 600-yar-d matches. The five-ma- n team is beginning die high power rifle season which will continue through October. Any military member of the Post interested in trying out for the team and who is willing to spend time in praca little of his tice sessions is encouraged to contact Lt. AN ESPECIALLY interesting facet of the evening, said Kirs. Haslem, will Ire a demonstration of Mr. Fairbanks art. He plans to bring material and will complete an original work. The club memlters will Ire invited to suggest the lrasic format and design of the article. His appearance is scheduled for April 21, at 8 p.m. in the chapel lounge. Even among the several other distinguished speakers who have been special guests of the club this season, Mr. Fairbanks is outstanding, a club spokesmen stated. The artist holds a degree of Master of Arts in sculpturing, and has studied at the University of Utah, the University of Michigan, and in France. He has taught sculptoring at the University of Utah, the Salt Lake County Recreation Center, the Pioneer Craft House, and Granite High . honors. Lt. Our sports standing has risen a lot this year and so has the school spirit that backs it up. The high school halls are always decorated with posters for a dance or a game that is coining up and meetings are scheduled before and after school every day. Activities and trips outside the classroom are adding a lot to the enthusiasm in the class and for school in general. Hie Physics class took a trip to 9 computer center, an electronics tube manufacturing firm, and a radio and television station. The band and music department entered four groups in the solo festival that was held in Helier City at .Vasatch High School; a vocal trio, a french hom solo, a trumpet solo, and two piano solos. .Ve havent received their ratings yet but they should be quite good. Also there is a Band Concert and a Band Festival coming up. The business students just came back from a trip to the statewide commercial contest and the United Nations Club will lie leaving soon for the Model United Nations Seminar in Salt Lake 8. It was a take off on the standard play and really showed the scope of Dugway High's acting talent. Jay Fraser was presented as Manly Rash, the hero; Janiel Ivie as Constant Hope, the heroine; Shirley Eastland and Jim Myers as Jay's wealthy parents; Bonnie Olsen as Fowler, the .maid; Linda Hatch as a late comer;. and Shawn Langdorf as Bertrand Oleander, the notorious villian. The seniors are busy trying on gowns, and getting things ready for graduation and their step out into the world; the juniors are busy planning the Junior Prom which r. will be held on April 23 and their Banquet, and the sophomores are working on the graduation dance. Prior to his assignment here, he was Chief, CBR Nuclear Branch USA Air Defense Center, Ft. Bliss, Texas.
