In most cases the registration insures easier recovery of stolen bicycles. When bicycles are recovered, it is hard to properly identify them unless they are registered. The onetime, minimal registration fee seems very worthwhile when you could possibly receive a call letting you know your stolen or lost bicycle had been recovered. But today I thought of another excellent reason for parents insisting that their childrens bicycles be registered. In a recent police report a small girl had been riding her For three consecutive bicycle on a busy street and fallen off. Accidents can be very traumatic for young children and having a family member nearby can be very reassuring. If the child is unconscious and no one at the scene can identify him or her, the bicycle registration could be a very important factor in fast identification. Call your local police department now and see about bicycle registration in your city. 1 entitled Stereotypes and we will take a Lifestyles, look at those close Despite the fact that this was the first billion dollar budget in Utah history, the Legislature was reasonably legislative in arriving at session prepared by Utah dation, the private a just Foun- govern-ment- research organization. The study shows that Utah was able to balance its budget for the coming year and still provide some tax relief especially to the elderly poor. Altogether, the tax changes made should save Utahns up to $8.2 million next year. Among the taxes reduced were the inheritance tax, the sales tax on residential heating and lighting bills, and the property tax paid by elderly home owners and renters. On the other hand, because of changes made last year, the unemployment tax paid by employers will rise this year. State spending programs authorized for the 1977-7fiscal year will total nearly $1,016,000,000. The study notes The following is a statement from Mountain Fuel Supply regarding President Carters energy message to the American people: The Presidents message wisely placed emphasis upon conservation, for conservation recognizes not only that supplies are growing short, but that waste of any commodity is unnecessary. For several years Mountain Fuel has not only been urging our customers to conserve, but we have also been providing them information on specific steps that can be taken to use energy more economically. The company has published several brochures which spell out these specific steps. These brochures are available at any Mountain Fuel office. We also have an excellent group of servicemen who can personally advise and assist domestic, commercial and industrial customers. We also have a staff of trained home economists who provide conservation information to individuals as well as groups and schools. The company is also cooperating with Federal and state governments in achieving conservation. For the past year and a half we have been sponsoring our IN Program, I - N for Insulate Now. This program allows customers to have a qualified insulation contractor install adequate attic insulation in their homes. The customer may, if he chooses, finance the installation through Mountain Fuel, with no down payment, and pay for it as part of his gas bill for 18 months. Almost 7,000 customers have participated in this program, and more are taking advantage of it every day. The Presidents proposals will probably include still further substantial increases in the field price of natural gas. It has been rumored that the wholesale field price will be substantially higher than Mountain Fuel's current highest retail rate. This will force the price up to our customers. Important as conservation is, it is even more urgent we recognize that conservation does not provide new sources of energy. It merely stretches out existing sources. In the final analysis, conservation will provide us with time to develop new sources, and we must place emphasis on new supplies, new sources and new techniques. If we fail to do this, conservation will merely delay the day of reckoning and burden our children with a severe problem we refused to face up to. drought Edlittoir If you want to see how an adult book store can start the degradation of a community, on Sex for Hire watch Thursday, April 28, at 10:30 p.m. on channel 4 television.
