The project will improve the sanitation and safety features of the pool and will also provide a more convenient arrangement designed to enhance the general publics enjoyment of the swimming facilities. Mr. Merrill reported that with the section for exception of a roped-o- ff diving purposes, the deep places in the pool will be filled in so that an adult may stand up at any point. This plan will open up an enlarged area to general use, and will eliminate the remainnecessity of ing in a restricted region of shallow water. The steep sloping bank on the childrens end of the pool will be removed and a wading section will be constructed for use by youngsters. The improvement program has been outlined in connection with plans to develop a greater use of the pool, according to Mr. Merrill, who said that officials hope to make this season the most successful since the plunge was installed.
