S liRfeU, the baseball game between the Dinos of Carbon hnd the Delta Rabbits was somewhat Uke that on the eveningof April 2. Delta got off to a fast start, and Carbon was a little Blow getting into it, but In the end the strength of the Dinos took over and won the game the first inning neither team did much, but in the second Delta was able to score two runs with Storm Singleton belngthe first one ; driven in by a teammates bat However that was the last tlme any Rabbit player saw first base after running round the other three. Carbon then took the game over, but for a few minutes no one was sure they could.' The Dinos got a couple of players on base, but left them stranded in the bottom of the second. And then came the third period. . Delta hit a double and then Singleton was walked on an umpires calL Then another Delta player got on base and the pads were loaded. With no outs it looked very bleak; Carbon could have easily got behind But Troy Grundy a sophomore pitcher came through and basically disassembled the next three batters, leaving Singleton and his friends standingon their bases In disbelief. Then Carbon was up again, and failed to score. But after the top of the fourth, when Delta couldn't buy ahit as Grundy's pitches Beemed tb jump over the Rabbit's bats, the Dinos took over. They tled the score up in the bottom of the fourth and held off a Delta charge in the fopof the fifth. Again Carbon took apart the second Delta pitcher and they were up ; Delta was unable to get anyone over home plate in the Bixth and it was then that the skyopened up and Carbon driven balls fell all over the field. Anderson tossed Grundy the ball and he out raced the Egpry runner, who had a completely surprised look on his face, to first base and took him out. Carbon fans went nuts. Carbon scored -ahother run at the top of the fifth and again had the ' ehance to pile on the points and win early but couldnt bHng the runners in before the outs ran dry ; Two more runs in the top ofthe sixth made the score 0 and it seemed that the air had gone completely out of EmerysbaUoon. However, to their credit, when the wind started to blow out of Straight Canyon down on Orangeville and Castle Dale, they seemed to get renewed life. The seventh inning became harder for the Dinos to win than the whole game had. Emery got people on base and one runner finally worked his way across home, but with two outs already on the board It was only a matter of time before the inevitable hatchet fell, which it didin the form of another great Grundy play The count was he tossed the pitch and an Emery batter hit it almost straight at him, but a little high. It was like he just reached np with his glove and die ball curved right toward it.
