Show Fourth Annual Winter Sports Bash Picture Perfect For those in attendance, the fourth annual Winter Sports Bash held on the 25th of November in the SSHS gym provided an evening of entertainment, recognition and anticipation. The Bash was planned and presented by the Fauvines Drill Team, who provided three numbers throughout the evening in between presentations of all of the winter sports teams and their coaches. After a rousing introduction, the Wildcat mascot got the crowd pumped for the events to crane. The cheerleaders came on and led the packed gym in cheers, to get the athletes ready fra the night The wrestlers started out the night with several matches held to determine places on the Varsity team. The three-tim- e state champions put on quite an exhibition of wrestling skills for the large crowd. Cgn they make it four in a row? Three-tim- e 2A coach of the year, Wade Woolstenhulme, thinks so. The SSHS Marching Band performed a marching and performance routine that produced a first place trophy in a recent competition in Idaho. Band director, Dave Barton, presented the trophy to Principal Eric Moser and then the band wowed the crowd with their precision and performance. Coach Craig Rydalch next showcased his 97-9- 8 Basketball Team. An intense intersquad match-u- p provided just enough of a glimpse of the team to make the appreciative crowd hungry for more. Craig and his assistants look to a number of returning starters from last year s team to put the team into the State playoffs. The boys and girls Swim and Diving Team had just Finished a meet against Park City and came in fra their introduction and recognition. Coach Daniel Peterson has his swimmers and divers ready fra the Submission of Articles For Paper When submitting articles fra publication in The Bee, please try to have information typewritten if possible and in upper and lower case. Thank you ( year. With several meets under their belts, the girls are already ranked in fifth place in the state and the boys have started out with 3 wins against 2 losses. Saving the best for last, coach Shauna Woolstenhulme pitted her girls' Varsity Basketball Team against coach Sandy Lott's JV. Although experience aid off for the Varsity, the play of both teams showed a lot of promise fra victories in the coming season and on to the State Tournament. While the crowd got a great look at all of the teams, they were given extra entertainment at no extra charge. The cheerleaders, with Mz. Andrea McNeil as coach, performed one dance number and did another cheer routine with incredible stunts that should keep the crowds cheering fra the wildcat teams all season long, as they repeat these at the games. Two local dance groups also added extra entertainment to the show. Alene Marchant and her Fauvine daughter, Bonnie, had their "Lil' Darlins" dance group do sev eral "Dariin numbers, which were big hits with the crowd (especially all of the parents and grandparents who came to watch). Assistant Fauvine coach, Billie Jo Butikofer, had her dance troupe "Body Motion perform a lyrical dance to the Christmas song Bring a Torch. From the smallest to the oldest group, their technique and grace tunned the awestricken crowd. But, what would the Sports Bash be without the Fauvines. Performing three of their routines, the girls and their coaches Billie Sue McNeil and Billie Jo Butikofer, used this opportunity to help prepare the team for an upcoming competition on the 6th of December. With a strong returning team, they hope to improve on their fifth place finish in State last year. The Fauvines would like to thank the School, the Teams, and especially the parents and supporters of South Summit High School whose support made this a great success. With this kind of support throughout the year, all of the teams will have a great winter season. With categories titled logs, trees and water, it might sound like the latest field trip at South Summit was taken by the biology department. In reality, it was the photography students who were out snapping away at the Jordanelle State Park. As part of a contest sponsored by the Division of Parks' and Recreation, students from around the area were invited to come and' capture their impressions of the Rock Cliff Nature Center on film. Mrs. Phillip's decided that this would be a great opportunity fra her students to get out of the classroom and out into nature where the photo possibilities are endless. As part the contest, students were asked to take pictures showing die following areas of the park: trees, logs, water, no water and the park itself. A panel of eight judges then voted for their favorites based on creativity, sharpness and uniqueness. Hello and welcome to the won- wrestling.
