Now that the holidays are over, we have a new year to look forward to. It will be the time for new experiences, meeting new friends and setting new goals. Glennis Philps Senior Citizen News North Summit The first 1985 meeting of North Summit Senior Citizens was attended by thrity-tw- o members, who were warm!., welcomed by President Mick" Ball and other officers of the dub. It was a rather small group for a Wednesdays meeting, but the holiday season just wasn't quite ended for several members. whom we hope will be with us again soon. This holiday season seems to have been a busy and happy one for most everyone; what with having family members and friends to visit, exchange greet- - ings and gifts with, and renewing our interest in all the pleasures and joys of the end of year 1984, adn looking forward to. we hope, a much better and happier New Year in 1985. Our new cook, Kay York and second cook, Beverly Mair, served a delicious dinner of roast pork, whipped potatoes and gravy, green beans, applesauce and cookies. A short meeting was conducted by President Ball, and the regular activities of the club were enjoyed by all after dinner. All Senior Citizen Members were greeted by a beautiful world today, which we hope will continue for many more days to come. It certainly makes it easier for us to get out in the cold to attend1 club meetings, if the sun is there also. President Ball called the group to order at noon time and called on May Pace to offer the prayer and blessing of the food prior to our dinner of spaghetti and meet sauce, garlic bread, tossed greed salad, banana cream pudding, and peanut butter balls, which was served to twenty-eigmembers. IVj ' 1 ht The business meeting was conducted by President Ball, the minutes were presented by Secretary Ruth Taylor, and were accepted as read. Pres. Ball announced that blood pressures will be taken on January 9th, and election of officers will be held the same day. The band will have their next practice on January 23. The beautiful quilt belonging to Ardella Grills, was finished and taken off the frames today and a baby quilt was put on the frames by Fawn and Jim Smith, Fern and Holly Ellis. Ellen Robinson and Florence Moore. I personally feel that the year 1984 has been an enjoyable one for our club members, and our officers have done a very super job of making it such a pleasurable time for us. All we have to do is attend the regular meetings of the club and enjoy the benefits of their efforts. They certainly deserve our thanks and gratitude for all the joy we have had in the organization this past year. Thanks guys! You have done a very good job. Wells Bldg., 160 East 3rd South, Salt Lake City. - Xftr-'- . Gary Morrill was born in Provo, Utah on August 3, 1946 to Arnold and Nola Morrill. Although his father grew up in Kingston, Utah and his mother originated from Monroe, Utah, the Morrill's raised their family in Provo. Gary has a sister Toni, who lives in Boise, Idaho with i her husband Wayne Stewart and their 6 children; and a brother Stewart who lives in Missonla, Montana i.mis wife Vicki arid three children. Gary participated in sports, ' from the time he was a small boy; He was involved in baseball, , football, basketball,, and wfbst-- ling. He lettered in ail four sports at Provo High and was selected in. footand ball. r Gary served a mission for the L.D.S. church in Ireland. He has also served in various church leadership positions: primary teacher, Sunday school teacher and presidency, elders quorem residency, executive secretary, E ishop and always the church sports programs. Gary is employed at North Summit School district, where he ; teaches chemlstiy, algebra, math and science. He also coaches girls basketball and track and assists in football. He loves' teaching and being involved with the young people. Ann was also born in Provo to Clifford and Lorna Backus on May 1, 1950. Her father was ' born and raised in Plcsant Grove, Utah and her mother originated from Wallsburg, Utah. Ann has a sister Kay who lives in Henefcr with her husband Larry Dearden and their 4 boys, and a brother Rccd who lives in Los Angeles, California with his wife Nani and their daughter. ' Ann has been very acti student government throughout t . . all-regi- : 4 - - her schooling years. She served in student body positions at Franklin Elementary. Dixon Jr. High and Provo High School. She has also served in various chruch and community functions. Ann has taught in the nursery, primary, Sunday school, served in the 'young women's presidency, the relief society presidency and primary presidency. She is currently serving in the Hoytsville ward primary. Ann has been active in the P.T.A.,' and helped 4-- H sponsor and promote little league baseball. Gary and Ann began their marriage in the Salt Lake Temple on Feb. 14, 1969. Jodie has learned to be a very brave young lady having battled leubemia for the. past three years. She is doing very well and loves school.
