Show BEflTH CLAIMS 'EAiifiiSTER 0" EARLY CLRH Death this week claimed another member of an illustrious Utah family, fam-ily, Mrs. Vilate (Dot) Smoot Pier-pont Pier-pont of Holladay. She passed away at her home, 2430 Kentucky Ave., Sunday. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday. Born Nov. 30, 1873, in Provo, she was the daughter of efcrly pioneers Abraham Owen and Diana Eldredge Smoot. She was . the youngest sister of the late United States Senator Reed Smoot. She married Thomas F. Pier-pont Pier-pont on Jan. 4, 1893, in Provo. Hhe was the owner of the Provo Foundry and Machine Co. He died in September of 1954. Surviving are two sons and three daughters, Thomas G. Pierpont, Provo; John B. Pierpont, Ely; Mrs. Leon T. (Naomi) Petit and Mrs. Paul J. (Vilate) DeVine, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Willard L. (Ruth) Ec-cles, Ec-cles, Ogden; one brother, H. A. . Smooth Bountiful; 16 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. |
