Show MINES AND MINING. A number of people from Har-risburgh, Har-risburgh, Leeds and Silver Reef have been making new discoveries above Silver Reef, at the foot of Pine Valley mountain. There has been seventeen locations' already made and' some twenty assay;'"; which run from two to fouiiin . ' Vvv' dollars each in gold, a portion of the rock containing the same being soft - Truly the Baying of Isaiah seems to be coming to pass, where he says "For brass I will bring gold, and for iron I will bring silver, sil-ver, and for wood brass, and for stones iron." Frank Burgess has gone to the new gold strike, above bilver Reef, to examine the new discoveries and probably make a few locations. We understand that H. Blackner who has leased the Kemple mine, in Silver Reef District, Utah, lately late-ly struck a four foot vein of rock that is quite rich in silver. Mr. Wilson, at De LaMar, is preparing to put in a mill for working work-ing gold bearing rock, he being the owner of the April Fool mine. We are informed that Mr. De LaMar, at De LaMar, Nevada, is putting in an addition to his mill and works in order to increase the working capacity. Everything in that vicinity is in a prosperous condition. The Dodge Bros have just returned re-turned from Bull Valley and report re-port propects in that vicinity in a rloiiri?hing condition. They have sunk G5 feet on the Vanderbilt mine and then drifted about 13 feet and have struck the gold spar and expect to find a large ledge ae, they go on in. They havo also commenced work on the Black Prince mine and have cut in about 20 feet prepartory to . - - . . commencing a tunnel in order to run into the main ledo. Parties desiring to see specimens from these mines can seo them at Walter E. Dodges, in this city Frank Burgess returned from the new gold fields, above Silver Reef, just as we are going to press and reports re-ports the prospects in that vicinity very discouraging. There is gold there but it has not yet been found . in quantities that will pay to work it. |
