The remark set us to thinking an 1 from our observation,, we have noticed that a man who hadn't 'he tiniH to read newspapers news-papers is usually too poor to pay for one if he took it. A man may take too much time to read papers and neglect important impor-tant business, hut a man who does not fortify himself with all the aid possible in this strenuous strenu-ous 1 fe usually led he is badly handicnped and though he woik from early morn to late at night He is generally distress-Ijiijly distress-Ijiijly our all Lis Ufa, We des-ire to live in peace with all mankind, but a newspaper news-paper can nit take a stand in favor of good mom Is, against, fi-mids, or try to point out the e ils that will result from a e tain source of i.dion without incurring the enmity of some jeople. The necessary agreement was signed by the interested parties at the City Council meeting Monday night. Some months ago Springville City filed a notice of appropriation appro-priation on all the unappropriated waters of Hobble Creek for the purpose of diverting the winter flow into the reservoir. In anticipation of this, the canal was ordered enlarged and the reservoir repaired, the City expending $700 on the work. Mapleton, in the meantime organized into a town corporation, corpora-tion, now appeared with a proposition to spend $700 also, and in return secure an interest in the system, amounting to seven forty-sevenths of the whole. Mr. Roylane stated the object of the meeting; he explained the advantage of the factory to be the making of a new market for fruit and vegetables, veg-etables, which would encourage the fruit growers to raise more and better fruit. The speaker had investigated the subject from the point of an investor and was satisfied the project would be a good one one that would bring a fair interest ou the money invested. In addition to this it would create a new line of employment and thus increase the payroll of the city. He thought a factory, suchasProvo ought have, would cost about 15,000 to 20,000, including the working capital. Such a plant would employ about 50 to 75 hands, mostly boys and gills. A gentleman from the east, a practical canning factory man, answered a great number of questions in regard to the work ings of a cannery, price to be paid for fruit, tomatoes, etc, He was satisfied that the invest incnt would prve a paying one, and was willing to put some money into the enterprise. Mr. Bower of the state board of horticulture expressed grati fieatiou to see 60 many fruit growers in attendance, which was an evidence that they were interested.
