Students sang tribute songs for each division of the armed forces and shared a patriotic power point presentation. Then students shared in giving a special tribute with Mrs. Chris Jones, second grade teacher, remembering her father, Duane Hansen, who served in the U.S. Army during WW2 from 1942-1946. 1942-1946. He was a Communications Officer in charge of radio and telephone communications in. France and Germany. He received the Bronze Star Medal. Mrs. Jones shared special items from his service including a newspaper from Honolulu, Hawaii, on Dec. 7th, headlines announcing the bombing of Pearl Harbor and the flag presented at Mr. Hansen's burial in 2007. Second Grade Scouts also posted and retired the colors. Students joined in singing the National Anthem and saying the Pledge of Allegiance. All were respectful in honoring all past and present men and women who serve our country in the armed forces.
