Megan Conrad and Nathan Richey SHS STAFF WRITERS Along with a new year, many new teachers have joined the faculty at SHS. Among those is Brett Miller, English teacher and golf coach at the high school. This is Mr. Miller's third year in thesse pposi-tions. pposi-tions. He spent the past two years teaching English at Springville Junior High and also a coach of the SHS golf team. This year, (along with the challenge of teaching both sophomore sopho-more and junior classes) he enters his second year as head Coach of our winning golfteamc It is evident that Mr. Miller loves what he does, because two of his favorite favor-ite hobbies include reading and golf. Among his other favorite pastimes is spending spend-ing time with his family. Mr. Miller has been married mar-ried for six years and is the father of three children, George (5), Lewis (3 ), and Lillian (1 J. Mr. Miller said that he became a teacher initially because of some college experiences. During his time at UVSC, he took a number of English classes. These were some of his favorites, and because of this, he decided to major in English. Because he realized real-ized he would have few or tions in this field, he chose to go into Education. We are very excited to have Mr. Miller at our school this year! We hope that the student body will support him and the golf team in their efforts to succeed. suc-ceed. Go SHS! ' .... Each player will have to pay their own green fees plus a $20 donation to the Springville I lyh Golf Tcvrn. This entrance fee will include a steak dinner. Because this tournament is meant to raise funds for the golf team, they want as many participants as they can get, therefore, you don't have to be Springville alumni to play. They now have grown to 21 teams within our club. ' Springville High will host the 2007 College Tour for senior se-nior students on Thursday, Sept. 27. The tour will be from 8 to 11a.m. Seniors need to be in the auditorium at 8 a.m. for a presentation pre-sentation about financial aid. At the conclusion of the presentation, pre-sentation, seniors will have the opportunity to nieet with the representatives of three different differ-ent schools. Colleges and universities who will be represented on the College Tour are Utah Valley State College, College of Eastern East-ern Utah, Snow College, Dixie State College, Westminster College, Mountainland Applied Technology College, Salt Lake Community College, Weber State College, Utah State University, Uni-versity, University of Utah, Southern Utah Universtiy, Brigham Young University, BYU-Idaho and LDS Business College.
