First Security State Bank off Springville occurring in the State happened in a relatively small area in Utah. "When the best highways are located in this area, and with the major improvements coming with each new automobile model, the only conclusion as to why this toll occurs comes down the drivers," Richards said. "In reviewing the accident, no instances in-stances were found where a highway or automobile was the direct cause of the accident." The engineering advancements ad-vancements made in the automobile, makes driving today a different ball game, it was pointed out. "Drivers must learn the evasive actions necessary to avoid being involved in a motor vehicle accident," Richards stated. "The techniques used twenty years ago are not good enough to keep you out of a traffic mishap." In the Provo area, drivers have an opportunity to become better drivers by enrolling in a Defensive driving Course which will enable them to learn the art of staying out of a traffic mishap. This eight hour course will be conducted in the Provo High School commencing on Tuesday, April 4 at 6:30 p.m. This will be offered in four 2-hour 2-hour sessions on the same evening, one week apart. Persons interested in learning more about this course or enrollment, should contact the Utah County Safety Countil, 373-5510 373-5510 Ex. 69. There is a small registration fee to cover the cost of materials used in the course. This is the best investment to help avoid becoming an accident victim during 1972. Why is it that people who shout the loudest about a subject sub-ject so often know the least about it. A case in point are the disciples of so-called "organic" "or-ganic" foods. The fact is that the increasing in-creasing length of life of Americans completely contradicts con-tradicts the idea that our food supply is toxic or worn out. A noted nutritionist, Dr. W. H. Sebrell, Jr., of Columbia Colum-bia University says, "Diet is one of the most important factors in determining how long an individual lives. . . . While a good diet cannot guarantee good health, you can't be healthy unless you live on a good diet." Back in 1850 a white male child had a life expectancy of 38.3 years (females, live 40.5) . By 1968, the expectancy had risen to 67.5 years for men and 74.9 years for women. Additionally, almost all world athletic records have been broken in the last few years, and Americans are generally becoming taller and heavier. For example, a 7-foot 7-foot basketball player is no longer a surprise. The causes of this improvement improve-ment are many sanitation and epidemic control ; medical attention ; less hard physical labor ; and adequate ' food, with nutrition the important factor. Even if all other conditions con-ditions are favorable, nutrient nutri-ent deficiencies could cause deaths, and it's not eating more food that counts but the higher nutrient quality of it. As for organic foods, the United Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Vege-table Association reports that "most food alleged to be grown completely without chemicals is mislabeled . . . there is no such thing as an "organically grown" plant. Plants utilize water soluble inorganic ions, not organic compounds. They cannot use natural fertilizer until soil organisms break it down to inorganic elements. Foods passed off as "naturally grown" are often inferior in spite of a higher price tag. mm 54" x 60" Polyester DOUBLE KNITS Solids and Patterns Reg. $2.77 yd. $2.47 Alurrjinum Heavy-gauge Tube CHAIRS Reg. $3.99 $2.99 CHAISE LOUNGE 5-position back Reg. $8.99 $6.99 Member of F.O.I.C.
