Show V In The Social Realm Mrs. Manilla Brown Reporter, Phone 146 One of the most enjoyable social affairs of the week was held at Kelly's Grove Saturday evening by the members of the cast of the "Prince of Artland" Kiwanis opera. The guests who numbered nearly fifty motored to the grove early in the evening, where a musical program pro-gram and a number of games were enjoyed. Later a delicious picnic lunch around a large bonfire was served while all members enjoyed a social chat. It was also decided by those present that a Civic Opera company should be formed, the details de-tails of which will be worked out later. Miss Josephine Menerary, formerly form-erly of this city is spending a two-weeks two-weeks vacation . ijh her grandmother, grand-mother, Mrs. Henry Menerary. She will return the latter part of this week to her home in Salt Lake. Mrs.' Hannah C. Packard and family 'of Provo have returned to their home after spending a week with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. Condie in Springville. Mr. and Mrs. Will Phillips, accompanied ac-companied by Mr. and Mrs. George Crandall enjoyed a motor trip to Eureka. Sunday. They.were dinner guests at the home of Mr. aiid Mrs. Leo Larsen and also attended the ball game. The Primary classes of the Fourth ward, chaperoned by their teachers hiked to the foothills Monday afternoon after-noon and enjoyed games, songs and a picnic lunch. Among the leading social events of the week end was the wedding reception re-ception given Friday evening by Mr. and Mrs. Will Donaldson of this city in compliment to their daughter Vessa who was married to John K. Johnson of Spanish Fork Wednesday in Salt Lake City. The rooms were decorated with a profusion of spring flowers. An interesting in-teresting musical program and games were enjoyed during the evening, eve-ning, at the conclusion of which I a delicious two-course luncheon was served to the following relatives and friends: Mr. and Mrs. Charles' Martin, Haroldine Martin, Mr. and Mrs. Will Harmer, Mr. aud Mrs. Reynolds Harmer, Miss Alice Reynolds Rey-nolds of Provo, Miss Mary Strong, Mr. and Mrs. Selvoy Boyer, Mr. and Mrs. -Joe Wheeler. Mr. and Mrs. Frank .Johnson aud Mr. and Mrs. , Noble of Sjrtinish Fork, Mr. audi Mrs. B. E. Ernstroni and Miss Yerl Donaldson of Salt Lake. The honor guests received a number of beautiful beauti-ful gifts. They wUl make their home in Spanish Fork. Mrs. C. O. Claudin has returned to herliome in this city after spending spend-ing several mouths at Reno, Kev., with her sister, Mrs. II. M. Hansen. Han-sen. Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Black were guests Saturday evening at a family dinner party given by Mr. and Mrs. Frank Holdaway at Provo in compliment com-pliment to their twin son and daughter. daugh-ter. . ,. li J.. The members of the Los Omega Card club will be entertained Saturday Sat-urday evening at the home of Mrs. Arvil Bird. All members are cordially cordial-ly invited to be present; 1 Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Allen with their children motored to Strawberry Straw-berry Saturday where Mr. Allen flan ted a number of fish in the streams. Principal and Mrs. E. E. Knudsen spent one day this week in Salt Lake visiting with L. G. Stier, who is at present vocational director at Los Angeles. Mr. aud Mrs. Knudsen Knud-sen became acquainted with Mr. Stier while in school in New York. A well arranged dinner party was given Sunday when Mrs. Blanch G. Hales entertained at her home in compliment to Miss Josephine Menerary Men-erary of Salt Lake and Miss Yir-gijna Yir-gijna Packard. A number of school friends hiked to "Round Peak" Saturday evening where a huge bonfire was built and a "weinie roast" enjoyed. The affair was given in compliment to Miss Anna Thompson who is visiting visit-ing here. Those included in the party were: Marie Child, Bernice Tipton, Myrln Hall, Blanch Weight, Sarah llolley, Sarah Hill, Ruth Johnson, Bernice Kaucett, Eeru Bate. Elizabeth Loynd, and Beatrice Wheeler. Mrs. Harriet Johnson with her daughter Julia have returned from a week's visit in Eureka with Mrs. Johnson's daughter, Mrs. Joseph J. Enllendach. Commissioner E. II. Madsen and Joseph Allen recently returned from a four day trip to Moab where they were insinvtinc the streams and also planting fish. Mrs. June Pierce is spending this week in Salt Lake with relatives and friends. Mrs. Joseph Allen and children will leave Friday morning for a motor trip to St. George, where she will visit with her parents Mr. and Mrs. George Brooks. Helen and Ted Garbett of Nephi formerly of this city are spending a week at the A. Y. "Wheeler home, guests of Rlane and Helen. Mrs. Edna Rogers : and little son are at the home of her parents, Mr. and 'Mrs. William Summon (n-valescing (n-valescing from an ,oierntion which she recently underwent at the L. I). S. hospital at Salt Lake. Miss Vesta Anderson arrived home Sunday after spending two years on an Eastern states mission. Mrs. Julia Roberts of Provo announces an-nounces the engagement of ber daughter Juliet, to Ronald Allen, son of Mr. Joseph Allan of thia city. The marriage will take place this nionth. More than forty members nnd close friends of the two families attend the wedding reception given by Mr. and Mrs. John Erand-sen Erand-sen at their home Saturday evening eve-ning in compliment to Mr. nnd Mrs. Ha'vid II. Thomas, who were married mar-ried Wednesday. Pink roses and yellow columbines attractively dee-orated dee-orated the entertaining rooms. Games nnd n program were enjoyable enjoy-able features of the evening. A dainty two course luncheon was served bv the hostess assisted by her daughters. Many useful and pretty gifts were presented to the newly married couple. Mr. nnd Mrs. Thomas will make their home at Leland, Utah. Mrs. Harold Johnson and son Dick returned to Eureka Sunday after visiting a week in Springville. She was accompanied by her husband, hus-band, also her mother, Mrs. Rhema Weight. Charming in every detail was the banquet party given Monday evening eve-ning at the home of Miss Josephine Sanford by the Booster's club of the Springville high school. The entertaining rooms were beautifully dehorn ted with roses of various shades. A large basket of red roses centered the dining tables nt which !a delicious banquet was served. Progressive "noO" and "Cootie" were f-Mfnrel during the evening. Miss Well ha Spafford and Theo 'Hid ing winning high score prizes and Pearl Gore and Ida Packard the consolations. At the conclusion of the games the election of officers and i.ow memhprs for next school year took place as follows : President, Presi-dent, Theo Riding; Vice President, Louise Mendenhall ; Secretary and Treasurer, Ida Packard; reporter, Donna Dillingham. New members include: Inez Starr, Lucile Crandall, Cran-dall, Helen Packard, Josephine Reynolds, Rey-nolds, Laura Clegg, Captola Cher-rington, Cher-rington, and Tess Childs.
