Booth, well-known and highly high-ly respected attorney of Provo, who announced his candidacy for judge ! in the Fourth district judicial district. dis-trict. His name will be presented at the judicial Republican district convention to be held iu Provo Mon-, ; day September 8. 1 During the past 31 years, Mr. Booth has been one of the lending at torneys of Provo and Utah county. He has been associated with several of the influential law firms of the city and has held various responsible respon-sible positions in the city, the county coun-ty and the state. He began practice in Provo in ISO.'i when he became associated iwith the firm of Booth and Wilson, in which his brother, the late Judge John E. Booth and E. A. Wilson. Later the firm become Booth and , Booth until 1S90 when Mr. Booth practiced alone following the election elec-tion of Judge Booth to the district bench. For three years "he was (he senior members of the firm of Booth and Harvey, the junior member being Harvey H. Cluff. the present at-tornney at-tornney general of Utah. Since 1920 Mr. Booth has been affiliated with I. E. Brockbank under the firm name of Booth an'd Brockbank. He served as city attorney of Provo during 1902 and 3903 and has also at different times been city attorney at-torney of American Fork, Alpine. Mapleton, Spanish Fork, Salem and Santaquin. In 1911 and 1913 he served Utah county in the senate of the state legislature. leg-islature. At that time he introduced the measure since then known as the injunction and abatement law which provides for the closing of places of business for one year where intoxicating liquors are unlawfully un-lawfully sold. He was a member of the Provo city school board from 1897 to 1900 and served on the Provo city council from 1905 to 1908. He has been bishop of the Provo Fourth ward since January 13, 1907. Mr. Booth has always taken an active interest in Republican politics and has served his party in various capacities. At present he is city j chairman of his party and previously previous-ly served for eight years on the 'central city committee. |
