Dr. George A. Anderson, opulai physician and well known as a civic wcrker here, was t he unanimous noire of the primary for mayor, he having been chosen by acclamation. Other nominees were: William Whitehead, four-year-term councilman council-man ; J. L. Phillips, Therou S. Hall and Glenn Da llin, two-year-term councilmen : Harry Fonningtoii, city recorder, and Eliza J. Russell, city 1 treasurer. : The city hall was filled to capacity. ca-pacity. I r. Anderson, wa:( made ' chairman of the primary, and sug- 1 gested that the new party, lake as its slogan "Conservation and Economy.' Econ-omy.' Of those nominated on the "Citizens' "Citi-zens' " ticket William Whitehead, nominee for four-year term commissioner, com-missioner, is also named for two-year-term commissioner on the Republican Re-publican t icket. Since t be same person's name cannot go before the voters on more t ban one t icket, it 1 is probable that Mr. Whitehead will ; withdraw frojn one of the two tickets, in which event the vacancy j wi'I be filled by the committee from ,': whose ticket the name is withdrawn. ' The same will apply to Mrs. Eliza ' ' Russell, who was named on all three j tickets for the office of city treas- j urer. .Mrs. Russell will no doubt withdraw from two of the tickets j and if those parties from whom she J withdraws still desire that she be elected, they will not name anyone to fill the vacancy. |
