Show COUPLE OBSERVE 67 YEARS OF MARRIED LIFE Believed to be the longest married mar-ried couple in Springville or vicinity, vi-cinity, John and Carolina Holm Barney, Utah pioneers and residents resi-dents of this city thirty-seven years, observed their 67th wedding wed-ding anniversary Monday. Mr. Barney, one of the few remaining re-maining Black Hawk Indian war veterans, was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa, February 26, 1852, and came with his parents, John and Abigal Washburn Barney, to Utah at the age of six months. The family lived for a time in Provo, and then moved to Spanish Fork, where Mr. Barney lived until coming to Springville. Mrs. Barney came to Utah with her parents in 1872 as convertB to the L. D. S. church. She spent her early life in Spanish Fork and moved to Springville with her husband In 1903. She plans to celebrate her eighty-sixth birthday on Thursday. The couple are parents of 14 children nine of whom are living. liv-ing. They are Oliver Barney, Mrs. Sadie Herren, Mrs. Annie Laurie Neilson, Mrs. Andrea Bouty and Aners Barney of Salt Lake City; Edward Barney of Provo; Mrs. Tillie Burt of Moore, Idaho; Mrs. Agnes Slier of Birdseye, and Torn , Barney of Springville. They also have 33 grandchildren and 2 2 great-grandchildren. |
