Show Lovely Garden Reception Fetes Young Married Couple In a beautiful mid-summer set-setting set-setting of summer flowers, shrubs, and trees aud under vari-colored floodlights, Mr. and Mrs. Leland Clement (the former Catherine Mendenhall) were honored at a garden wedding reception Friday night. The wedding ceremony took place Wednesday, July 3, in the Salt Lake temple, with Stephen L. Chipman, president of the temple, officiating. The bride looked lovely in a beautiful model of white silk net over white taffeta with a fingertip veil of silk net caught to her head with a tiara of seed pearls. She carried a bouquet of white regal Hllies and pink rosebuds. Bridesmaids were the Misses Artha Kay and Nona Marchbanks, who were both attired in blue georgette and wore corsages of pink and white sweet peas and rosebuds. Besides those mentioned above, in the receiving line were Bishop and Mrs. R. L. Mendenhall, parents par-ents of the bride, and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Clement, parents of the groom. Mrs. Mendenhall chose a navy blue lace and Mrs. Clement chose navy blue georgette for their gowns. Both wore corsages of white gardenias. The evening's program included a duet by Glen Holley and Freeman Free-man Bird, a duet by Max Mendenhall Menden-hall and Thora Whiting and solos by each of the aforementioned. Merrill Hill of Payson gave a reading, Byron Gale, also of Pay-son, Pay-son, gave accordion solos, and Don Humphrey and Melba Merritt each sang vocal selections. Refreshments were served from a long table covered with a gorgeous gor-geous lace cloth centered with pink and white sweet peas and with pink candles in crystal candelabra can-delabra at either end. Mrs. Pearl Holley and Mrs. Eva Bird were in charge of the serving. The Misses Hannah Jean Mendenhall and Wanda Holley poured and Jean Wilkins, Elaine Whiting, Or-tha Or-tha Dee Bird, and Barbara Bird assisted with the serving. Mrs. Vera Perham and Mrs. Shirley Poulson assisted with the entertainment. In charge of the gift room was Erma Hjorth. Many beautiful gifts were presented during the evening to the young couple. After a short honeymoon at the Granddaddy lakes, the young couple cou-ple plan to make their home in Springville. |
