Lyall, residents of Springville since 1919, will be honored at an Open House Saturday in observance of their Golden Wedding anniversary. Mr., Mrs. A. M. Lyall to Be Honored Saturday on Golden Wedding Day The younger son Robert married mar-ried Virginia Barstow of Denver, Den-ver, Colo, and they make their home in Milwaukee, Wis., where Robert is employed by General Electric as a sales manager in the department of heavy equipment. They are parents par-ents of two daughters and a son. The Lyall's two sons and their families make frequent trips to Utah to visit their parents and Mr. and Mrs. Lyall Ly-all have visited them in the East, but due to the winter weather, distance and their work, the boys will not be able to be here for the wedding anniversary. An Open House honoring Mr. and Mrs. Alex Lyall on the occasion oc-casion of their 50th wedding anniversary, will be held at their home, 598 South Second East, Saturday, January 23 from 3 until 8 p.m. Friends and associates of the couple are invited to call. No written invitations are being issued. The couple requests no gifts. Alex and Rosa, as the Lyalls are affectionately known, came to Springville in the spring of 1919, when he was employed as Hatchery foreman of the U.S. Bureau of Fisheries. He retired in 1940 and since that time has followed as hobbies boat making and shoe repairing, repair-ing, which trades he learned as a boy in his native land. Born in Wick, Scotland, he came to the United States in 1901, making his home with a sister in Colorado. Here he met and married Rosa, a native na-tive of Chicago, 111. The Lyalls have been active in Community church and civic affairs and have made a host of friends. Mr. Lyall has served ser-ved many years as treasurer of the local Community church in which he holds the position of Elder. Mrs. Lyall has also held many positions in the church om ain jo juapisaad Suipnpui mens' organizations. Mr. Lyall is a Mason and a member of the Woodmen of the World. Mrs. Lyall is a member of the Eastern Star and the Home Culture club of which she is now the oldest active ac-tive member. The Lyalls have traveled considerably con-siderably in their later married mar-ried life and Mr. Lyall visited his folks in Scotland only a short time ago. They have two sons, Wilford and Robert. Wilford is married to the former Lucy Wainwright of Springville and is employed as a manager for the general Electric in its guided missile department. They and their three sons reside in Pittsfield, Mass. |
