Show Sailor Takes 'Bride In Ceremony oAt fProvo Announcement is made this week of the marriage of Miss Dorothy Porter, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Porter of Orem, and Bruce Carter, S. C. 3c, son of Mrs. Ruby Blackett of this city. The ceremony took place on Wednesday, Aug. 22, in Provo. Complimenting the young couple, cou-ple, a wedding party was given at the home 1 of the bridegroom's grandmother, Mrs. Wm. Mann, in Provo last Saturday evening, to which a large group of close relatives rel-atives and friends were bidden. : CANYON PARTY MARKS BIRTHDAY Employees of the Art City Pub-! lishing Company and their partners, part-ners, enjoyed a party at Canyon Glenn Tuesday evening, marking the birthday of Harrison Conover, manager. Supper was served at one long table, centered with " two beautifully beauti-fully decorated birthday cakes. The evening was spent with ball games and visiting. Games and a delicious luncheon were features of entertainment. The couple is visiting in Springville Spring-ville for the present and he is to report to Mare Island Sept. 2nd, while his bride will remain here. EFFAN BEE CLUB MEMBERS ENTERTAINED A business meet and social for members of the Effan Bee club was given at the home of Mrs. Arnold Roylance last Friday evening. eve-ning. A party in the canyon for members and their partners was planned, and later delicious refreshments re-freshments were served and the group also enjoyed playing Rook. High score for the games went to Mrs. Glen Turner and consolation to Mrs. Phyllis Nielson. Others present were, Mrs. Shirley Shir-ley Nielson, Mrs Reva Roylance, Mrs Delia Hall, Mrs. Vonda Hatch, Mrs. Helen Kendall, Mrs. LaVeta Jerreries of Provo, a guest, and the hostess. In attendance were, Mr. and Mrs. Orval Singleton, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Howell, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Sumner, Mr and Mrs. Wesley Robey, Miss Clorice Kirk, Grant Fotheringham, all of Provo; Mr. and Mrs. Harrison Conover, Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow Weight, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Brown, Miss Norma Roylance, Mrs. George Roylance, Mrs. Agnes Eismann, Mrs. Lucin-da Lucin-da Halbman, Miss Marva Waters, Carl Crandall, Leon Blackley and Miss Norma Rae Ostlund, of this city. Cpl. Gene Averett Home On Furlough Cpl. Gene Averett, who has Been stationed in Italy, is spending a 30-day furlough in Springville with his wife, the former Clara Bird, and other relatives. He is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Ruel Averett. At the end of his furlough he is to report to Fort Douglas for reassignment. |
