Show Miss Joyce Hardy Weds At Vrouo Saturday DAM A GRANT TO ATTEND SCHOOL AT MILLS COLLEGE ' Miss Dama Grant, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Grant left Sunday by airplane for Oakland, California, where she plans to attend at-tend Mills college. She plans to major in speech and dramatic art. Miss Grant is a graduate of the Springville high school, and she attended Brigham Young university univer-sity two years, where she took a prominent part in dramatic work. At the university, she was affiliated affiliat-ed with the 0. S. Trovata social unit and the Beta Alpha Phi, honorary hon-orary dramatic organization. Mr. and Mrs. Grant accompanied accompan-ied her as far as Salt Lake City. ALPHA BETA CLUB TO HAVE FIRST MEETING The Alpha Beta club members will hold their opening social of the fall season Friday, September Septem-ber 13, at 3 o'clock at the home of Mrs. W. W. Clyde. The meeting will be in the form of a garden party and all members mem-bers are invited to be present. LEGION AUXILIARY TO ENTERTAIN PAST OFFICERS Last year's executive officers will be entertained at a Legion Auxiliary party planned for Friday Fri-day night in the Memorial hall beginning at 8 o'clock. President Ada Barron announces an-nounces that all members are invited in-vited to be present. Miss Joyce Hardy, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Hardy of Springville, became the bride of Burns Allen, .son of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Allen of Provo, Saturday at Provo. A wedding party in honor of the young. couple for relatives and close friends is planned Friday evening at the Hardy home. The couple plan to make their home in Provo. W. A. F. SEWING CLUB COMPLETES WORK The W. A. F. Sewing club has completed the 4-H work for this year, under the leadership of Es-tella Es-tella Ollerton. Louise Averett and Viola Miner won second place in demonstration demonstra-tion and third in judging at the county contests in Provo. Club work also took second place at the county fair, and as an individual entry, Louise Averett's dress won a first place. Other girls whose entries were chosen from the community to go to the county fair were Ruth Hall, Hah Sundblom and Kathleen Holley. Hol-ley. Kathryn Martindale, Beverly Sumsion and Elaine Allen also did excellent work. HOOPER-KILLP A CK MARRLAGE ANNOUNCED Announcement was made this week of the marriage of Miss Rosalie Lena Hooper, daughter of Mrs. Earl Haymond of this city, to Edward Merrill Killpack, son of Mr. and Mrs. Perry Killpack of Provo. They were married Wednesday, August 21, at Provo, with Maurice Hardy performing the nuptial rites. A number o wedding parties honoring the young couple have been held both here and in Provo. They will make their home in Provo. HAFEN-DALLIN ART CLUB OFFICERS ENTERTAINED Officers of the Hafen-Dallin Art j club were entertained Friday evening eve-ning at the home of the president, presi-dent, Mrs. Beulah Whiting. A report of the summer's work was given and plans for the coming com-ing year were discussed. Historians Histor-ians Eva Crandall and Ada Barron Bar-ron reported on the materials they had gathered for the Hafen and Dallin scrapbooks. The opening lecture of the club 1 will be given Wednesday, September Septem-ber 25. at the Art building at 7:30. The lecture will be an illustrated illus-trated slide lecture by Mrs. Mae Huntington. She prepared and gave the lecture for the Utah Academy of Science and Art at the spring session in Kingsbury hall. Refreshments were served in conclusion to the following: Mrs. LaPreal Friel, Mrs. Ada Barron, Mrs. Eva Crandall, Mrs. Ann Johnson, Mrs. Margaret Miner, and the hostess. |
