Dougall, one of Springville's longer wedded couples, will observe the 59th anniversary of their marriage Saturday, November 28. John W. Dougalls Will Be Married 59 Years Nov. 28 Mr. and Mrs. John W. Dougall, Dou-gall, life-long residents of Springville with a long record also of community and church activity, will note their 59th wedding anniversary Saturday. No special celebration is planned plan-ned as Mr. Dougall has been in ill health for some time, but visits from relatives and friends will be enjoyed on this special occasion. Mr and Mrs. Dougall were both born in Springville of pioneer pio-neer parents who were among the earliest settlers. Mr. Dougall Dou-gall observed his 85th birthday birth-day last Thursday and Mrs. Dougall (Hattie to her many friends) will be 83 January 1. Shortly after their marriage in 1900, Mr. Dougall was appointed ap-pointed Springville postmaster by President Theodore Roosevelt. Roose-velt. Later he worked as a surveyor sur-veyor and for many years he was a successful farmer and stockman. He retired only a few years ago. Mrs. Dougall is a U of U alumni and taught school in her early life. She has served as captain of the DUP and os a Relief Society president as well as an officer in other auxiliary aux-iliary organizations. Four of their five children are living, Hught and Barney of Springville; Dr. John M. Dougall of Houston, Texas and Mrs. Josephine D. Robison of Lehi. They also have six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. |
