Show Services held recently for Nels C Madsen Funeral services were held at Summit, Iron County, Friday, Fri-day, for Nels C. Madsen, 85, father of Mrs. Afton Clark of this city, who had made his home in Springville with Mrs. Clark, for the past three years. He died Monday, July 3, 1967, at Payson Hospital, shortly after af-ter he was admitted, of a heart attack. Burial was in the Summit City Cemetery. Mr. Madsen was born in Frejlev, Denmark, May 14, 1882, a son of Marinus and Else Thompson Madsen. He married Norah Hulet June 9, 1905, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She died in 1943 and in 1945, he married Sarah Ann Smith in Los Angeles. Mr. Madsen came to Utah from his native land in 1899 and two years later, was converted con-verted to the LDS faith. He served an LDS mission to Denmark Den-mark in 1907-09 and had always al-ways been active in LDS Church work. He served in the bishopric of the Summit Ward, was a high priest and was also choir leader in that ward. Since coming to Springville, he had been a member of the Twelfth Ward. Survivors include his daughter daugh-ter and one son, Mrs. Clark of Springville and Elmer Madsen of Blackfoot, Idaho; also ten grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren. Another son, Ardell S. Madsen, Mad-sen, 59, of Cedar City died of a heart attack, June 19, and funeral services were held two weeks ago Friday, at Cedar City. Mr. Madsen accompanied his daughter from Springville to the services. The wife of the younger Mr. Madsen died ten years a go. He had no family except his father and sister, Mrs. Clark' of Springville and the brother of Idaho. |
