Show Services held Saturday for mishap victim Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon, in Kolob Stake House, for John Trease, 65, who lost his life in an accident, ac-cident, while assisting with the hauling of hay from the church farm at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday of last week. He was taken by ambulance to Utah Valley Hospital Hos-pital and later transferred to Holy Cross Hospital, Salt Lake City, where he died Thursday, July 6, 1967. Mr. Trease was born in Wadsworth, Ohio, May 7, 1902, to Morgan and Ella Gross Trease. He married Ila Cowling, Cow-ling, June 22, 1930 in Los Angeles, An-geles, Calif., and the marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. He attended school at Wads-worth Wads-worth and later engaged in dairying and farming. They moved to Covina, Calif., in 1949 and to Furlock, Calif., in 1954. In 1960, they moved to Springville, where he had resided re-sided since. Their home was at 689 Canyon Drive. He was converted to the LDS faith in 1930, and had been a an elder's quorum secretary and a high priest group leader in the Sixth Ward. He had served as finance clerk and home teacher in Furlock and was Sunday School Superintendent Superinten-dent in Ohio. He was active in the Senior Citizen program of Springville and did considerable gardening and fishing as hobbies. Surviving besides his wife, are two daughters, Mrs. Thomas Thom-as (Pearl) Davies of El Monte, Calif.; Mrs. Ronald (Jacqueline) Zaret of Garden Grove, Calif.; six grandchildren and one sister, sis-ter, Mrs. Leona Brown of Wadsworth, Ohio. Burial was in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery directed by Berg Mortuary. |
