Show Word comes of death of former resident Word has been received here of the death of Rev. William H. Ensign at Kingsley Manor, a home for retired ministers in South Hollywood, Calif. Dr. Ensign and his wife served the Springville Community Presbyterian Presby-terian Church from 1923 to 1925, and returned to pastor the church on two other occasions. oc-casions. He would have been 100 years old in October. He was born in Saratoga, Misnesota, and was ordained to the Presbyterian Pres-byterian ministry in 1892 upon graduation from McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago. Chi-cago. In 1921 he became Professor of Bible at Westminister College Col-lege in Salt Lake City. From 1925 to 1934 he was pastor of the Westminister Presbyterian Church and also served the church in Greenriver, Utah. He retired from the ministry at the age of 70, but because of a shortage of ministers at that time, returned to r.ctive duty. In 1942 he and his wife celebrated their Golden Wed-disg Wed-disg anniversary at Kingsley Manor, where they had made their home since 1941. Mrs. Ensign died in 1944. His only immediate survivors are nephews and nieces, great nephews and great nieces and three sister-in-laws. Funeral services were conducted con-ducted in the South Hollywood Presbyterian Church. Dr. Ensign is remembered by many Springville residents. He performed the marriage ceremony cere-mony for J. X. and Emma Gardner of this" city. I |
